Actor Connor Swindells, known for his roles in Barbie and Sex Education, has signed on to be part of the illustrious cast for The Entertainment System Is Down, a forthcoming dark satire directed by Ruben Östlund, who brought us Triangle of Sadness.

Joining Swindells in the cast of the Entertainment System, we have Daniel Webber, Wayne Blair, Dan Wyllie, Lindsay Duncan, Allan Corduner, Sofia Tjelta Sydness, Erin Ainsworth, Myles Kamwendo, Sanna Sundqvist, Tea Stjärne, and Swedish musician Benjamin Ingrosso.
On a long-flight journey from England to Australia, a situation arises where the in-flight entertainment system malfunctions. This leaves passengers with nothing to do, leading to boredom and potentially escalating disagreements – both on a personal and political level.
Filmmaker Ruben Ostlund has commenced principal filming of “Entertainment System” in Budapest. This movie will be shot over approximately 70 days, concluding in May of this year. The production team acquired a decommissioned Boeing 747 exclusively for the project. Following “Triangle,” which garnered significant success with worldwide earnings exceeding $26 million and three Oscar nominations, including best picture, “The Entertainment System is Down” will be Ostlund’s second English-language film. Notably, “Triangle of Sadness” was also a winner at Cannes, making it Ostlund’s second Palme d’Or award, having previously won in 2017 for “The Square.
The Co-Production Office manages global distribution for the Entertainment System. Last year at Cannes, A24 secured U.S. rights to the movie in a multi-million dollar agreement.
The movie titled “The Entertainment System” is a joint production between Plattform Produktion (Sweden), Essential Films (Germany), and Parisienne de Production (France). It also has co-producers such as BBC Film, Film i Väst, Sveriges Television from Sweden, ZDF/ARTE, ARTE France Cinéma from Germany, SF Studios, Eye Eye Pictures (Norway), Paloma Productions (Denmark). The financing comes from the Swedish Film Institute, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, Filmförderungsanstalt (FFA), the Norwegian Film Institute, the Danish Film Institute. It also receives participation from Canal+, Disney+ and ARTE France, with additional support from Creative Europe MEDIA.
