As a gaming enthusiast, I’m excitedly sharing the news that John Gore Studios, a fresh face in the film and TV production world, based right here in the heart of London, made its grand entrance this past Wednesday. They’ve tapped into the rich pool of experience by appointing none other than industry titan Hilary Strong as their CEO!
As a gamer, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve been appointed as the executive chairman of John Gore Studios. The talented Mara Strong, with her impressive background in literature and entertainment, has been brought on board as CEO. She’s got quite a resume – she was the boss at Agatha Christie Ltd and the commercial director at Hat Trick productions. Excited to see what we can create together!
John Gore Studios plans to employ a “strategic method for film and TV production similar to the highly effective techniques used in theater” by the John Gore Organization, an extensive collection of media companies such as Broadway Across America, Broadway.com, The Broadway Channel, BroadwayBox.com, and Group Sales Box Office. As a 22-time Tony Award winner, Gore is well-versed in successful theatrical strategies.
John Gore Studios is all geared up for the production of two upcoming films: one titled tentatively as “The Bitter End” will be helmed by acclaimed director Mike Newell (known for “Four Weddings and a Funeral“) and written by screenwriter and novelist Louise Fennell. The movie features Joan Collins as Wallis Simpson, the American divorcee who ascended to the position of Duchess of Windsor following her marriage to King Edward VIII of Britain, a monarch who opted for love over duty in this untold tale depicting the surprising events of her later life.
The movie will be made by Richard Holmes, Gore, and Francis Hopkinson, with Strong and Michael Foster serving as co-producers. Filming is scheduled to start in May 2025.
Collins expressed his excitement, saying, “I’m delighted to take on the role of portraying this legendary figure in an untold tale. It’s a privilege to be part of John Gore Studios’ first project, which I believe will be a huge success.
The second production, titled “Ithaqua,” is the latest venture under the Hammer label. This film marks the debut of a fresh Hammer monster after a span of sixty years – Ithaqua, conceived by the movie’s director and producer, Casey Walker. Set in the 1800s Canadian wilderness, it follows a group of British settlers from a secluded trading post who are tormented by an ancient malevolence that turns its victims into flesh-hungry beings.
The movie features Luke Hemsworth, Kevin Durand, Michael Pitt, Craig Lauzon, and Leenah Robinson as its main cast. The script was co-written by Walker along with Peter Vicaire and Pascal Trottier. Kaleidoscope is responsible for its distribution.
