Architectural firm Joongho Choi, located in Seoul, has transformed an upper-level apartment to suit the personal style and preferences of its inhabitant. Maintaining a distinctively South Korean design sensibility with polished metal walls and modern furniture arrangements, the interior is imbued with warmth by rich, brown wood finishes and vibrant splashes of neon orange color.
In the primary area, cleverly concealed statement storage solutions harmonize effortlessly with the minimalist decor, using sage green wooden cabinets in the entranceway to subtly showcase wood grain textures for a natural touch. Upon entering, visitors are met by a reflective metal wall extending from the open kitchen to the living room, disguising an intricate closet system. The heart of the space features two curved neon orange storage counters that serve as stylish and practical focal points.
As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but notice the striking neon orange hue that ties together various elements of this stunning space. It gleams on the metal footrests of my custom wooden barstools, adorns floor-to-ceiling shelves in the foyer, and graces a slim strip of wall dividing the kitchen from the bedroom corridor. The kitchen’s sleek cabinets and backsplash echo this radiant shade, with lustrous chrome detailing that matches the closet system. Wooden slats overhead lend a touch of nature to the area, grounding it all. Elsewhere, the same warm wood stain graces a closed entertainment center and storage headboard in our open-plan bedroom, adding a cozy, organic feel throughout.
In the lounge area, custom wooden furniture aligns with the contemporary aesthetic of the flat, while a curved metal wardrobe lines the edges, much like an upscale boutique. Lastly, the bathroom features a bold orange tone throughout, with a striking design. A chrome partition leads to the bathroom where bright orange tile grids adorn most of the walls and white tiles cover the floor.
