2025 is off to a fascinating start with movies like “Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare”, “Wolf Man”, and “Better Man” already gracing our screens this month. There are definitely more films in development, including highly anticipated titles from well-known franchises such as “Star Wars” and DC. However, we will have to wait a bit longer before we can enjoy them at the cinema.
Over the next few weeks, some truly remarkable films are set to hit cinemas. Among them is an eagerly anticipated installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and a horror movie directed by the same person behind Nicolas Cage’s “Longlegs.” If you’ve been craving to catch movies on the big screen, here are the ones gracing theaters in February 2025.
‘Love Hurts’
Watch It in Theaters on February 7
After delivering an outstanding performance in “Everything Everywhere All at Once”, Ke Huy Quan has taken on several significant roles, such as OB in “Loki” Season 2. However, his upcoming role in “Love Hurts” might be the most intriguing one to anticipate.
In the movie titled “Love Hurts,” I find myself portraying a realtor who abandoned his tumultuous past in pursuit of tranquility. However, an unexpected reappearance by my ex-partner in crime, bearing a startling revelation, compels me to face my past – a past I believed was permanently buried. Directed by Jonathan Eusebio and featuring Ariana DeBose, Sean Austin, Daniel Wu, and Lio Tipton, this gripping tale hits the big screens on February 7.
‘Captain America: Brave New World’
Watch It in Theaters on February 14
Title suggestion: “Captain America: A Bold New Era”
This title may not generate as much excitement as some other Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films this year, as many fans are still grappling with the concept of The Falcon inheriting the mantle from Steve Rogers. However, it does spark curiosity about how seamlessly he will adapt to the evolving MCU and uphold the esteemed legacy of the iconic Marvel character.
In the upcoming movie “Captain America: Brave New World,” set to hit theaters on Valentine’s Day, 2025, Anthony Mackie’s character Sam Wilson steps into the role of Captain America. As he navigates a global crisis masterminded by a sinister figure, if left unchallenged, this villain could potentially lead the nation to ruin without anyone noticing.
‘The Monkey’
Watch It in Theaters on February 21
Under the direction of the same creative mind behind “Longlegs”, comes the chilling upcoming horror movie titled “The Monkey“. This film is an adaptation of Stephen King’s 1980 short story with the same name. In this tale, twin brothers Hal and Bill stumble upon a toy monkey hidden in their father’s attic, not realizing its sinister role in a series of tragic events that follow later on.
Although parting ways with the ominous toy monkey, the brothers find themselves compelled to reconcile decades later as unsettling events from their past recur. Can they finally break the curse associated with the Monkey?
Meanwhile, “The Monkey” movie featuring Elijah Wood, Theo James, and Sarah Levy will hit theaters on February 21st.
‘Cleaner’
Watch it in Theaters on February 21
Daisy Ridley has shown her prowess as an action star in the Star Wars series, particularly as Rey. Now, she’s venturing into a fresh action-thriller genre where she portrays a former soldier turned cleaner. This movie, helmed by Martin Campbell and penned by Simon Uttley, is generating significant buzz as one of February’s most anticipated releases. The intrigue stems from Ridley’s captivating role, along with the inclusion of other talented actors such as Taz Skylar and Clive Owen. Here’s a glimpse at the official synopsis for the film titled Cleaner:
In modern-day London, a band of passionate protesters storm an energy company’s yearly gala, capturing around 300 people as pawns to uncover the company’s corruption. However, their noble intention is twisted by an extremist among them, who threatens to massacre everyone inside to broadcast his chaotic ideology globally. In this crisis, a former soldier-turned-window cleaner named Ridley, perched 50 stories high on the building’s exterior, must rescue those trapped within, including his younger brother.
Cleaner will be available in theaters on February 21, 2025.
‘The Unbreakable Boy’
Watch It in Theaters on February 21
Zachary Levi is particularly recognized for his role in Shazam!, and he has consistently delivered impressive performances in multiple films. In this latest venture, the actor makes a comeback to the silver screen with The Unbreakable Boy, a biographical drama set to release soon. This film is an adaptation of the book titled The Unbreakable Boy: A Father’s Fear, a Son’s Courage, and a Story of Unconditional Love.
As a passionate movie enthusiast, I’m eagerly anticipating the release of “The Unbreakable Boy,” a heart-warming film hitting theaters on February 21, 2025. This inspiring story follows Austin LeRette, a resilient young boy living with autism and brittle bones. Despite his parents’ fears for his future, this extraordinary boy, empowered by his father’s unwavering faith, finds the strength to overcome adversity and embrace life with unbridled joy.
‘Last Breath’
Watch It in Theaters on February 28
The upcoming movie titled Last Breath is a gripping survival thriller that’s adapted from a 2019 documentary, and it’s said to be a factual account. Skilled performers like Woody Harrelson, Simu Liu, Finn Cole, and Djimon Hounsou are bringing the story to life on screen.
In Last Breath, a group of brave deep-sea explorers find themselves locked in a battle with the fierce ocean’s fury as they attempt to save one of their own entangled hundreds of feet beneath the waves. With time running out and the odds stacked against them, their unity and resolve are put to the ultimate test. If they hope for any chance at success, they must press on. Last Breath, helmed by director Alex Parkinson and written by Mitchell LaFortune, will hit the big screen on February 28, 2025.
