BMW has launched a unique, restricted edition vehicle – the first BMW M3 CS Touring. This high-performance wagon seamlessly blends racing technology from the track with everyday practicality. The unveiling took place at the legendary Mount Panorama Circuit during the Bathurst 12-Hour race. Enhancing the M3 Touring concept, this special model features more power, strategic weight reduction, and distinctive design features that set it apart.
Beneath its sleek exterior, the M3 CS Touring sports a potent 3-liter twin-turbo inline-six engine that generates an impressive 550 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. This powerhouse is coupled with an agile eight-speed M Steptronic transmission and M xDrive all-wheel drive system, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in a lightning-fast 3.5 seconds, while its top speed is electronically limited to 186 mph. The vehicle’s performance is amplified by a robust crankcase, a forged lightweight crankshaft, and customized chassis tuning specifically designed for this model.
Components made from Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP), found on the hood, front spoiler, side mirrors, and rear diffuser, help decrease the vehicle’s weight by 15 kg compared to the standard M3 Competition Touring. High-end M Carbon bucket seats and a lightweight console add to the racetrack-oriented interior design. Lastly, a titanium exhaust silencer enhances the car’s intense exhaust sound.
The M3 CS Touring is visually distinct, boasting a frameless grille resembling the kidney design of GT models, accentuated by yellow headlights. Notable color options include British Racing Green and Laguna Seca Blue. On the road, it rolls on robust 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels, equipped with tires suitable for the track.
At the point when this article was written, BMW hasn’t specified an exact quantity, but they have mentioned that manufacturing will be constrained. The first deliveries of the new CS model are anticipated to start in March, reaching customers in Europe, Australia, Japan, and South Korea.
