In case you’ve forgotten, Sterling K. Brown graced the Marvel Cinematic Universe with his presence! You might recall him as N’Jobu, the father of Erik Killmonger (played by Michael B. Jordan), in “Black Panther”, the 18th movie in the MCU timeline. Now, seven years after its release, Brown is eyeing a return to the superhero realm. But how could this be possible given that, unfortunately, N’Jobu met his end? It will certainly be intriguing to see how the writers and directors of the Marvel universe might bring him back!
brown, who is presently starring in the political thriller TV series “Paradise” for those with a Hulu subscription, expressed his aspiration to rejoin the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in a conversation with Variety. In simple terms, he voiced his wish to be part of the MCU again.
There’s an idea I’ve been pondering: Marvel could benefit from adopting a ‘Law & Order’-style rotation, where characters are allowed to take a break and then return after a specific period. And guess what? I’d be thrilled to rejoin the Marvel universe if given the chance. I truly hope it happens. Please consider me for a comeback. Please, please think about it. Thank you.
Since the release of Black Panther, Sterling K. Brown’s career has flourished significantly. His role as Randall Pearson on This is Us concluded after six seasons, and he’s since appeared in various films and series such as Frozen II, American Fiction, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Solar Opposites, Invincible. He will also be starring alongside Henry Cavill in the upcoming live-action Voltron movie. Given that Brown didn’t have a major role in Black Panther, it makes sense that he’d want to rejuvenate his presence within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
To clarify once more, it’s important to note that N’Jobu has been deceased since the early ’90s. His demise occurred when his older brother, King T’Chaka, used his Black Panther claws to fatally wound him during an attempt to shoot T’Chaka. Although N’Jobu resurfaced in the current storyline of Black Panther in a vision experienced by Killmonger after consuming the Heart-Shaped Herb, given that Killmonger is no longer alive, it seems rather improbable that we will see N’Jobu in Black Panther 3 or any other upcoming Marvel films.
If I were Sterling K. Brown and wanted to rejoin the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’d likely require playing a new character. Luckily, there are instances of actors embodying multiple roles within the MCU, such as Gemma Chan portraying Minn-Erva and Sersi, Linda Cardellini taking on Laura Barton and Lylla, and Michelle Yeoh assuming the personas of Aleta Ogord and Ying Nan. Even Robert Downey Jr., who was instrumental in establishing this franchise with his 11-year stint as Tony Stark/Iron Man, is gearing up to portray Doctor Doom in both “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars”. While it’s assumed he’ll be a variant of Tony, it’s still a significant step!
I plan on echoing Sterling K. Brown’s request and urging Kevin Feige and the Marvel Studios team to think about casting him in a fresh character. It would be wonderful to witness him making an even more significant mark on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so should this occur, rest assured that we at TopMob will keep you updated on it.
