As a movie enthusiast, I’m eagerly waiting for the upcoming TV season in 2025, but there’s one show that’s particularly piquing my interest – Netflix’s highly anticipated series, Stranger Things. Despite wrapping up filming back in December, we’re still awaiting a release date for this sci-fi sensation.
The cast has been sharing heartfelt posts on social media about their experiences, and the Duffer Brothers have kept us hooked with behind-the-scenes glimpses and teasers on Instagram since production started last year. Recently, they’ve dropped another intriguing teaser, and as usual, fans can’t help but speculate about what Season 5 of Stranger Things might hold.
In honor of the yearly Next on Netflix event, the streaming platform’s social media team has been actively sharing sneak peeks, trailers, and premiere dates for various upcoming series and films. Although the main press event supposedly showcased a “making of” trailer featuring footage from Season 5, it hasn’t been made available to the public yet. In its place, the official social media accounts for the streamer and Stranger Things recently posted a missing person flyer for Jane Hopper. Have a look:

The poster is brimming with intriguing details, such as El’s supposed birth date, which adds a fun layer of depth to her character for fans. However, it seems many people were more captivated by the phone number included, as some claim it links to the Hawkins Police Department and broadcasts an alert about a city-wide lockdown due to an earthquake, stating they’re focused on locating Jane Hopper. On the other hand, others have shared their experiences of getting a busy tone or a message suggesting the number is currently unavailable.
Despite the possibility that this figure could become the largest hidden clue on the poster, if they manage to deal with the high call volume, there’s still a wealth of details that spark fan speculation regarding Season 5 once more.
It’s crucial to note that Eleven, from Stranger Things, has reportedly been seen near Hawkins High School on June 14, 1986 – a significant development given that the Byers family and El were last in Hawkins in March 1986 at the end of Season 4. This follows her arrest for assaulting Angela, her “rescue” by Dr. Brenner, and his assistance in restoring her powers.
The date in June could provide a hint regarding when Season 5 might unfold, as there’s been much discussion about this. Additionally, it’s intriguing that the flyer asks people to contact the Hawkins Police Department if they have any information. Interestingly, the Hawkins PD has no connection to “Jane Hopper,” and only Hopper, who is presumed dead by his old employer, appears to be the one who knows about El. This raises questions about who might be looking for Jane/El. Some viewers have proposed theories on this matter.
- Something tells me that the one who is looking for JANE HOPPER is in fact the military…. – @bravoaistilonline.officiall
- So 3 months after season 4 – Jane goes missing near Hawkins High? And it says to contact Hawkins Police so Hopper or friends must have reported it? Or is this military trying to manipulate the public to disclose her location? The contact Hawkins police part is throwing me off. – @victimofcircumstance01
Given my own enthusiasm for the series, it seems plausible that the military’s theory linking Vecna’s killings to Eleven could be the most accurate explanation we have until we receive additional details.
Many fans seem to be focusing on the various dates and numbers listed on the flyer. Is June 7th significant beyond being Jane’s birthday? Could it possibly refer to the day she went missing, or is it just a phone number? It appears that fans are curious about all these numerical details.
- Guys I’m delusional but does that mean s5 is coming out June 13th??? – @brooklynbee3
- I think the phone number contains the release date of the season 🤔🤔🤔🤔 – @salvatoreucc_
A popular theory among fans revolves around the titles of Season 5 episodes that were unveiled during the Stranger Things Day in 2024. Notably, the title for Episode 2 was “The Vanishing Of [blank],” with the identity of the vanishing person left a mystery.
Initial theories were that Holly Wheeler was going to be the one who vanished, but with this new Jane Hopper poster, fans, like @Austin.thomasny have started to rethink that theory:
… the EPISODE TITLE. IS SHE THE ONE THAT VANISHES?! WHAAAAAAAAT?!
It’s clear that whatever is happening with El in Season 5 is likely to be a significant storyline, as it’s bound to capture our attention given the limited number of behind-the-scenes glimpses we’ve had of her so far.
I’m quite excited for an authentic launch date and an official preview too, but it’s fascinating how the Stranger Things crew keeps us involved by coming up with innovative strategies as they strive to create the best Season 5 possible. In the meantime, let’s speculate on this poster and revisit the first four seasons, which we can access with a Netflix subscription, in search of hints about what lies ahead.
