The second season of “” has just wrapped up shooting, and its leading actor “” has hinted that the explosive comeback of the Peacock series will feature a significant amount of destruction for our viewing pleasure. This is exactly the kind of news that enthusiasts of the video game adaptation have been eagerly anticipating.
In 2023, Twisted Metal made its debut on Peacock and garnered an astounding viewership, earning the title of the most watched original series on the platform at that time. The series wasn’t just a success on Peacock; it also achieved notable recognition elsewhere. Although critics gave it a moderate 67% score on Rotten Tomatoes, viewers loved it, giving it an impressive 93%, placing it among some of the top video game adaptations ever made.
Given the strong supporting data, a renewal was swiftly announced, and following multiple improvements in production, Mackie is generating excitement for the impending revival of the PlayStation franchise. In an interview with Esquire, he stated:
We completed our project, and much of the filming took place in Canada. In this production, there were numerous explosions every day. On certain days, authorities would arrive and tell us not to proceed with the explosion, but we would wait for them to leave and then carry on anyway. It was an exhilarating experience. We detonated people, homes, and vehicles. Just be aware that more things will explode in season two; it was a thrilling process.
‘Twisted Metal’ Season 2 Will Continue John Doe’s Story
Enthusiasts of “Twisted Metal” have been eagerly anticipating updates on the second season since the production completed in November 2024, which was announced several months ago. Michael Jonathan Smith, at that time, expressed, “This production was exceptional. Our immensely skilled cast and crew brought the lightning and helped create something truly remarkable. A big thank you to everyone who contributed to making this season even grander than the first one.
When discussing how the second season could continue the story, Mackie previously commented:
He’ll encounter situations that will compel him to act more responsibly and make difficult choices, as it’s not always possible to remain in a ‘milkman’ role throughout life. The experiences of milkmen show us this. Therefore, he must consider what matters most: maintaining his current position or maturing and assuming adult responsibilities.
The second installment of Twisted Metal promises to delve into a lethal tournament plotline reminiscent of the original game, and with another impressive roster of actors, it aims to maintain its outrageous and thrilling spirit from season 1. Joining the cast are Anthony Carrigan, Sayor Bell Curda, Michael James Shaw, Richard de Klerk, Tiana Okoye, Patty Guggenheim, and Lisa Gilroy, adding to an ensemble that already includes Mackie, Samoa Joe, Will Arnett, Stephanie Beatriz, Thomas Haden Church, and Richard Cabral. Unfortunately, the release date for Season 2 remains unknown, but you can catch up on the first season on Peacock.
