Electronic Arts recently brought back the original version of “The Sims” as a tribute to their groundbreaking life simulation video game series, which is turning 25 years old. You can now play this classic along with its sequel, “The Sims 2,” and most of the additional downloadable content that was ever released for both games.
For the first time ever since its launch in 2000, the original version of The Sims is now available for digital purchase or play. Previously, enthusiasts of this series’ first installment had to search for a physical CD version of the game and pray that it would work with their current operating system (often it wouldn’t).
EA (Electronic Arts) has updated their old titles to make them playable on Windows 10 and 11, and you can purchase them easily with just a click online – quite a change from the days when gamers had to go to malls or Electronics Boutiques to buy these games when they first came out. EA has also teased fans by saying that classic characters, sounds, and music from some of these games are coming back, indicating that a gaming experience similar to the Y2K era might be on the horizon.
Currently, you have the opportunity to purchase “The Sims 25th Birthday Bundle” priced at $39.99 USD from either the Epic Games Store, Steam, or the EA application.
