Upon learning that Gwendoline Christie had been added to Season 2 of “Severance”, my enthusiasm for the character of Ben Wyatt soared – yes, you’re right, I was ecstatic about a character who isn’t even in this amazing Apple TV+ series! The reason for my excitement stems from the fact that Adam Scott plays both Ben on “Parks and Rec” and Mark on “Severance”, and Ben is a huge fan of “Game of Thrones”. What makes this even more exciting is that the actor portraying Mark shares my enthusiasm about Brienne of Tarth being cast in the current season, and I find it fascinating how subtly Ben expresses his excitement.
As an ardent fan of “Parks and Recreation”, I was overjoyed when Gwendoline Christie became part of the “Severance” cast. Given that both Ben and Adam Scott are avid “Game of Thrones” fans, it came as no surprise. Moreover, her character Lorne in the Apple TV+ series has a significant part to play in the intriguing wild goat storyline I’ve been eagerly anticipating. During my interview with Scott for TopMob about Season 2, I naturally asked him about collaborating with the actress who portrayed Brienne of Tarth, and he responded enthusiastically, expressing his excitement:
1. I adore everything related to Gwendoline; she’s simply my top choice. As for Brienne of Tarth, she ranks high among my all-time favorite television/movie characters. However, the joy of collaborating with her is truly exceptional – she’s a delight and incredibly talented.
2. I find everything connected to Gwendoline to be my absolute favorite, as she’s simply the best. In terms of characters on screen, Brienne of Tarth ranks high in my estimation. Yet, getting the chance to work alongside her has been nothing short of wonderful – she’s a joy to collaborate with and incredibly skilled.
3. Gwendoline is the epitome of my favorite aspects about her; she takes the cake. Brienne of Tarth stands among my most cherished characters in TV or movies. But, having the opportunity to work alongside her has been extraordinary – she’s a pleasure and an asset to any project she’s involved with.
4. Gwendoline is the embodiment of what I love about her; she’s unmatched. Brienne of Tarth ranks among my all-time favorite characters on screen. However, working together has been nothing short of a dream come true – she’s a delight to collaborate with and excels in every role.
5. Gwendoline is the pinnacle of what I cherish about her; she tops my list. Brienne of Tarth belongs to an elite group of characters that I admire on screen. But, when it comes to working together, she’s a dream – she’s a joy to collaborate with and brings so much talent to the table.
I can’t come up with a more fitting response akin to Ben Wyatt’s style. If Ben had ever met Christie, I’m convinced he would have been left dizzy, and absolutely captivated by her abilities and talents, much like Scott was. Should you doubt my words, take a look at the scene from Parks and Rec where Ben sits on the Iron Throne, and then tell me it doesn’t share the same excitement as Scott’s reaction.
It’s clear that Ben is just as passionate about Game of Thrones and its actors as Adam Scott appears to be in reality. This passion is what makes the behind-the-scenes moment from Severance particularly memorable.
Enhancing the situation even more, the scene Christie posted with actress Britt Lower as Scott and Helly’s character, Lorne, was quite dynamic. In Episode 3, we meet Lorne for the first time, and it’s evident that she governs the goat-supervising department at Lumon.
The atmosphere was ominous, enigmatic, and gloomy, surprisingly contrasting its bright white backdrop. Christie played her role masterfully in creating an unsettling vibe as she grilled Mark and Helly about their presence. Meanwhile, Scott shared his experience collaborating with the Game of Thrones actor amidst a multitude of goats, remarking:
Britt, Gwendoline, and I acted out a solemn scene at Gwendoline’s desk, but during the whole take, goats kept attempting to nibble on our shoe laces hidden within our trousers. This happened constantly, and we couldn’t drive them away or keep them at bay. They simply returned, persistently trying to munch on our clothing.
In this particular scene from “Severance”, the queries raised by the goats, the confusion they create along with this office, as well as the lively debate between Mark and Lorne make it an unforgettable moment in TV history!
Yet, things become even more intriguing when you factor in Adam Scott’s deep-rooted love for the epic series, “Game of Thrones,” which remarkably echoes his renowned character, Ben Wyatt from “Parks and Rec.” It’s as if two worlds have merged!
