As a dedicated cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that Timothy Olyphant, who we all know from shows like “Justified,” won’t be working alongside Walton Goggins in coal mines this time. Instead, he’s making his way back to our screens with an exciting new limited series on Apple TV+ called “Lucky.”
Joining the star-studded cast are the talented Anya Taylor-Joy and Annette Bening. This captivating tale is based on Marissa Stapley’s 2021 heist novel of the same name. In this series, Timothy Olyphant will be stepping into the role of Lucky’s father, as reported by Variety.
As I stand alone for the first time, I can’t help but feel the weight of my newfound freedom – and the absence of both my father and boyfriend, the duo who have taught me the intricate dance of deceit. But when I accidentally unearth a lottery ticket that could make me rich beyond my wildest dreams, I find myself torn between joy and dread. Cashing in this golden ticket means inviting the long arm of the law to arrest me for my past transgressions, a price I’m not sure I’m willing to pay.
Instead of going to prison with no hope of restoring her wealth, Lucky will struggle to elude capture and build a better life for herself. As she attempts this, she’ll need to face her past by reconciling with her estranged father; locating her long-lost mother who abandoned her as an infant; and dealing with the man she believed was her true love — whose tangled history is starting to impact her as well.
One of the two forthcoming roles for “Justified” actor Timothy Olyphant on Apple TV+ is marked as “lucky.” In addition, he will collaborate with Owen Wilson in a 10-episode comedy about golf, where Olyphant will depict a successful, previous golf pro, as reported by Variety.
‘Lucky’ Teams Anya Taylor-Joy With a Stacked Cast and Crew
It’s uncertain if Anya Taylor-Joy will be part of the Spider-Man 4 cast, but she has numerous projects to keep her occupied. Besides playing the lead character in the criminal drama Lucky on Apple TV+, Taylor-Joy is also a producer for this project. Interestingly, Reese Witherspoon, who is also an executive producer, had previously selected Marissa Stapley’s novel for her book club, and the series adaptation was born from it. Witherspoon shared insights about the origin of the heist novel-turned-series in a statement (as reported by Variety).
The inception of Reese’s Book Club was aimed at fostering stronger ties – not just with the narratives themselves, but also with the storytellers, and the growing community we are cultivating. It brings immense joy to magnify these female-focused tales and their creators, witness our community resonate with them, and subsequently observe these stories flourish anew on the screen.
We’re absolutely thrilled to collaborate with Apple TV+, starring the outstanding Anya Taylor-Joy, along with our talented author Jonathan Tropper and his gifted co-showrunner Cassie Pappas. Together, we aim to bring this captivating series, adapted from Marissa Stapley’s exceptional novel, to viewers globally.
Pairing Timothy Olyphant, who delivered an outstanding performance in “Justified” and its sequel, “Justified: City Primeval,” with Anya Taylor-Joy could boost the limited series on Apple TV+ significantly. It’s uncertain if this Taylor-Joy streaming story will be as well-received as her success on Netflix’s “The Queen’s Gambit.” However, the foundation for “Lucky” seems strong, considering the excellent writing by Stapley that was turned into a bestselling novel.
