Among the new movies and shows arriving on Netflix in February, standouts include the captivating and largely authentic tale of Belle Gibson, the thrilling conclusion to the beloved series Cobra Kai, the highly anticipated return of what is arguably the world’s most buzzed-about reality show, Kate Hudson showcasing her comedic talents, and Robert De Niro at the helm of a prestigious TV production are just some of the exciting highlights.
On February 5th, Amy Schumer’s comedy titled “Kinda Pregnant” will premiere on Netflix. In this film directed by Tyler Spindel, Amy Schumer plays Lainy, a character who pretends to be pregnant while experiencing feelings of jealousy towards her best friend’s real pregnancy. The story unfolds as Lainy encounters her ideal man in the process. Supporting roles are filled by Jillian Bell, Will Forte, Damon Wayans Jr., Brianne Howey, Alex Moffat, Joel David Moore, Lizze Broadway, Urzila Carlson and Francis Benhamou.
Title character Belle Gibson might not ring a bell to many globally, but her extraordinary tale, portrayed in the Netflix series titled Apple Cider Vinegar, could soon trend on social media platforms. Premiering on February 6th, this six-episode show presents a humorous reimagining of Gibson’s life story – an Australian single mother who built a wellness empire by misleading the world about having brain cancer and curing herself through natural living. Kaitlyn Dever plays Belle in Apple Cider Vinegar, which was developed by writer Samantha Strauss, who also co-scripted it with Anya Beyersdorf and Angela Betzien. The show draws loosely on the non-fiction book The Woman Who Fooled the World, written by Beau Donelly and Nick Toscano – the journalists who exposed the truth behind Gibson’s deception.
The conclusion for Cobra Kai is approaching, and regrettably, it must come to an end. In February 13th, Part 3 of the sixth and last season of Netflix’s widely-loved martial arts comedy will be released. The plot summary goes: “Following a surprising outcome in the Sekai Taikai, Miyagi-Do and Cobra Kai are compelled to confront their past while navigating an uncertain future, both on and off the mat. Forty years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, it seems everything has been leading up to this.
Each year on Valentine’s Day, Netflix premieres another season of the popular reality show “Love Is Blind”. Despite recent controversies, particularly surrounding season seven, the format remains hugely popular and has even inspired international adaptations. The upcoming season eight features singles from Minneapolis, Minnesota, but it seems to have already attracted attention from the National Labor Relations Board!
Or:
Valentine’s Day traditionally sees Netflix releasing a new season of “Love Is Blind”. Although there has been much criticism recently, especially towards season seven, the show’s unique format continues to captivate audiences worldwide. The eighth season focuses on singles from Minneapolis, Minnesota, and it appears that it has already caught the eye of the National Labor Relations Board!
Legendary actor Robert De Niro spearheads Netflix’s most high-profile TV debut in February with the political thriller “Zero Day.” This six-episode limited series unfolds after a crippling cyberattack that claims thousands of lives, leaving America in turmoil. De Niro portrays a former president who is reinstated into the White House elite and tasked with leading the Zero Day Commission to identify and bring to justice those responsible for this catastrophic incident. Co-written and executive produced by Eric Newman and Noah Oppenheim, “Zero Day” boasts an impressive ensemble cast including Lizzy Caplan, Jesse Plemons, Joan Allen, Connie Britton, Bill Camp, Dan Stevens, McKinley Belcher III, and Angela Bassett. The miniseries premieres on February 20th.
Starting on February 27th, the sports comedy series titled Running Point will make its debut on Netflix. Kate Hudson plays Isla Gordon, who becomes the president of the Los Angeles Waves basketball team following a scandal that leads to her brother’s (Justin Theroux) resignation. With a lack of confidence from her family, the board, and the sports community, Hudson’s character Isla must demonstrate her competence for the role. The series spans 10 episodes and also features Brenda Song, Drew Tarver, Scott MacArthur, Fabrizio Guido, Toby Sandeman, Chet Hanks, Jay Ellis, and Max Greenfield in various roles.
