Tom Cruise, who is now 62 years old, has captivated audiences with the breathtaking stunts seen in his films for a long time. Interestingly, while many of these feats are done to please the public, they also bring personal fulfillment to the actor himself. Known as a dedicated movie aficionado, Tom Cruise has expressed his passion for his craft numerous times throughout his career. Recently, he was able to make a dream come true – one that he’s been harboring since he was five years old – thanks to the Mission: Impossible series.

Throughout his career in the M:I series, the actor who plays Ethan Hunt has performed numerous daring feats. Some memorable instances include hanging from a plane in Rogue Nation and scaling the Burj Khalifa in Ghost Protocol. However, it was during the filming of Dead Reckoning that Tom Cruise got to realize a personal ambition. In an interview with The Guardian about the thrill and unpredictability of making such big movies, Hayley Atwell shared a particular stunt that caught Cruise’s attention.

Tom might say, “I’ve dreamed since I was five about jumping off a cliff on a motorbike, and now that dream has come true for me.” However, the others seem to be figuring things out as they proceed.

In the movie “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning,” Tom Cruise’s motorcycle leap off a cliff stands out as an incredible, unmatched act of madness. This death-defying stunt takes place when Hunt needs to soar over a train by leaping from a cliff and parachuting down. It’s a thrilling scene, one that has left a lasting impression on me since I first watched it in the theater. Interestingly enough, this daring motorcycle stunt was successfully performed on the very first day of filming.

Fun fact, Tom Cruise’s motorcycle stunt from his movie was first unveiled at CinemaCon in 2021. Hayley Atwell wasn’t required to execute a seemingly dangerous maneuver, but she shared that she was chosen for the role because it was expected that she would be able to match Cruise in various aspects.

During the audition process, it was made abundantly clear that they were seeking an individual who thrives under this particular working style, as it might not suit everyone. Moreover, potential candidates should be ready for five months of intensive, full-time physical training, capable of mastering fight sequences, driving a car with Tom, handling guns, and working safely with knives.

Actress Hayley Atwell will collaborate with Tom Cruise again in the upcoming “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.” However, due to the clandestine nature of these films, it’s difficult to predict her role in this one. It’s unlikely we’ll see another reprise of the famous bike stunt as Cruise and director Christopher McQuarrie usually aim for fresh ideas. I’m eagerly waiting to find out what they have planned for their movie due in 2025, hoping that Cruise managed to tick off more items on his childhood bucket list during production!
