Ever since Marvel reacquired the movie rights for X-Men in 2019, fans have been eagerly waiting to learn when the next film will hit theaters. Last year, it was rumored that Marvel was negotiating a script, which could potentially mean that production on the new film might start towards the end of 2025.
According to film critic Jeff Sneider on his podcast The Hot Mic, it appears that Harris Dickinson might be in the running to portray the main character Cyclops in the upcoming reboot. Dickinson has garnered attention for his recent roles in movies like The Iron Claw, Triangle of Sadness, and Babygirl. Previously, Jack Champion was mentioned as a potential choice for Cyclops, but Sneider suggests that Dickinson could be a strong contender due to Marvel reportedly favoring him. However, these are just rumors at this point.
In the upcoming X-Men reboot, some notable contenders for roles include Sadie Sink from Stranger Things as Jean Grey and Ayo Edebiri from The Bear as Storm. Kitty Pryde and Gambit are anticipated characters in the reboot; however, it’s undecided if it will be Channing Tatum reprising his role as Gambit. At this moment, only scant information about the script and release date has been disclosed, but Marvel is targeting a 2027 premiere for the film.
