Black Panther 3 Producer Addresses Latest T’Challa Rumor, But I’m More Interested In His Thoughts On How Captain America 4 Will Affect Wakanda

Although Black Panther 3 hasn’t been officially announced in Marvel’s lineup of upcoming films, there has been a significant amount of discussion about it over the past few months. Initially, Denzel Washington hinted at his involvement in the movie, and more recently, there were whispers that a new T’Challa character would take the lead role in Black Panther 3. However, longtime Marvel Studios producer Nate Moore has spoken up regarding these rumors, which caught my attention. Interestingly, he shared insights on how the events unfolding in Captain America: Brave New World, due for release later this month, might influence Wakanda.

Nate Moore Shot Down The T’Challa Rumor For Black Panther 3

First thing first, let’s tackle some housekeeping issues: Moore, who is stepping down from his role as VP of Production & Development at Marvel Studios next month, has clarified a rumor. Contrary to speculation, the MCU is not planning to cast a new actor for T’Challa, a role previously played by the late Chadwick Boseman. This is what the producer shared with Comicbook.

To put it simply, those rumors aren’t factual. We haven’t had much opportunity to discuss creative ideas with Ryan Coogler as he’s currently wrapping up his film Sinners, which is set to release this year. However, we’ll delve into the project later in 2022. Until then, anything you read online about our collaboration shouldn’t be taken as truth because we haven’t initiated our work together yet.

Regarding the extensive efforts taken in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” to pass the mantle of the Black Panther to Letitia Wright’s character Shuri, I must say I’m glad this isn’t being undone for “Black Panther 3”. Based on Kevin Feige’s response, it seems unlikely that we’ll see a new actor portraying T’Challa in “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Avengers: Secret Wars”, which another rumor suggested would be his first appearance. However, it’s possible that these movies could introduce a Black Panther from another part of the Marvel multiverse, but it appears that a new actor stepping into T’Challa’s role isn’t planned.

Captain America 4 Introducing Adamantium May Rub Wakanda The Wrong Way

Nate Moore shared his thoughts on how the happenings in “Captain America: Brave New World,” a film he produced, could affect Wakanda. Specifically, the fourth Captain America film unveils that the U.S. government has extracted a novel substance known as adamantium from the body of Tiamut, a Celestial whose arrival was thwarted in “Eternals.” Adamantium is famous for being the unyielding metal coating Wolverine’s claws, and it certainly challenges vibranium. Here’s how Moore imagines the Wakandans would respond to adamantium:

It’s clear that Wakanda has a stance on Adamantium’s arrival, just as they did with Sam Wilson becoming Captain America. Their backing of him, through providing technology, suggests their support. However, due to Wakanda’s strained relations with the U.S. government, potential conflicts abound in various forms. In my view, Wakanda can share the stage with Captain America in terms of political thrillers, given its focus on globalization and international politics. So, it’s not impossible that some intriguing twists and turns await us in these stories.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Adamantium was first introduced in the film “Deadpool & Wolverine,” but that movie predominantly took place outside of the main MCU timeline in other universes and The Void. Conversely, “Captain America: Brave New World” is where Adamantium made its debut within the primary storyline of the franchise. As of now, it’s an interesting concept to imagine “Black Panther 3” exploring Adamantium and how it could factor into the movie’s plot, regardless of whether it benefits or hinders the story. If Wakanda and the U.S. government have strained relations, acquiring Adamantium would likely be challenging for them; however, their extensive use of Vibranium wouldn’t be affected by this potential difficulty in obtaining Adamantium.

Additionally, there’s curiosity about how adamantium will play a role in future Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) productions. Although it seems probable that an X-Men reboot is on the horizon, it’s uncertain if Wolverine will feature in that film. Nevertheless, I’m eager to discover how the metal will be integrated into the plot of “Captain America: Brave New World,” which premieres on February 14.
