I discovered this at a recent winter baby shower in Chicago, where many of my fellow millennials were walking on snowy paths wearing these shoes (and yes, they still seem to get a bit peculiar when wet). Despite the initial memories associated with them, I’m actually quite fond of their understated return as casual winter footwear. It seems celebrities like Nicole Kidman, Charlie XCX, Hailey Bieber during festive seasons, and even Jennifer Lopez are contributing to this comeback.
It’s great to see the return of UGG boots as they come in various styles nowadays, catering to different preferences. Despite Christopher Nolan’s dislike for UGGs, there seems to be a style from this brand for almost everyone. Whether you prefer tall or short boots with a feminine touch, you can find a design that suits your style, and we’ve outlined some of the current trends below.
Nicole Kidman In Tall UGGs
At the onset of the UGG revival, Nicole Kidman made a notable appearance while filming for Babygirl last year, sporting a traditional pair of UGGs. Her attire echoed my observation about how these boots fare in the rain. She complemented her boots with a coat of matching beige shade and, whether it was due to filming or coincidence, she also flaunted a wet-hair-don’t-care style. It complements my current wardrobe perfectly, and since it was introduced in 2024, it has a more modern feel compared to styles that make me feel like I need to dig out my old college clothes.
