Since its debut, the adaptation of the book “It Ends With Us” into a movie has been marked by controversy. Initially, Blake Lively‘s interactions with journalists stirred up discussions. However, the conversation around the drama film (available on Netflix with a subscription) has since moved to the multiple lawsuits filed by both Lively and Baldoni. Interestingly, both actors’ legal representatives are using the same term to describe the ongoing legal predicament.
Last December, I found myself deeply involved in a legal dispute with the production company behind It Ends With Us, making several claims against my director and co-star. In reaction to this, Baldoni took action by suing The New York Times over their reporting of the situation, followed by filing a defamation lawsuit against me and Ryan Reynolds. Now, according to a recent report by CNN, both our teams are describing this ongoing legal drama as “devastating”.
On Monday, February 2nd, I found myself standing alongside my client in court for the very first time, facing off against the opposing team. We shared our experiences of the challenging ordeal that has significantly impacted us both personally and professionally. My client, Justin Baldoni, trusted me with his story, expressing how this ongoing drama is threatening not just his present, but also his future livelihood. I empathized with him, acknowledging the toll it has taken on us all.
My clients are devastated financially and emotionally.
It appears that the ongoing legal dispute between Lively and Baldoni might end up being quite costly for them. Given that their lawyers have just had their first court meeting, it’s reasonable to expect more expenses as this situation unfolds. Legal costs are often significant, as we all understand.
Interestingly enough, Michael Gottlieb, Lively’s attorney, stated that the supposed smear campaign against the “Gossip Girl” actress has been extremely harmful to her. Regarding Baldoni’s accusations, he offered his perspective by saying they have been particularly damaging for her.
You’re not supposed to launch attacks on the other party’s character.
As the legal teams persistently engage in their efforts, it’s apparent that Lively and Baldoni aren’t letting bygones be bygones just yet. Consequently, I can’t help but anticipate that further character criticisms may surface.
There’s been constant discussion online about the controversy surrounding “It Ends With Us“, with opinions leaning towards either Lively or Baldoni. It remains to be seen if they will indeed face off in a courtroom, an event that might cause a massive internet sensation. The situation could unfold similarly to the Amber Heard and Johnny Depp trial, where cameras were allowed in the courtroom, allowing fans to follow the trial day by day.
The film “It Ends With Us” was quite successful, playing well in cinemas and on streaming platforms. Regrettably, the off-screen events are casting strong doubt on the possibility of a sequel. However, there remains a small group of fans who cling to hope, despite the fact that a new installment will not be included in the 2025 movie lineup for sure.
