Amber Ruffin, a celebrated and award-nominated writer in late-night television, has been chosen for the role of providing entertainment at the 2025 White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
Ruffin, who contributes to and features on “Late Night with Seth Meyers”, has been chosen as this year’s host for the annual fundraising event organized by the White House Correspondents’ Association. The WHCA dinner is set to take place on Saturday, April 26 in Washington D.C.
As I pondered over who would make an ideal entertainer for our dinner event this year, Amber instantly came to mind,” I, Eugene Daniels from Politico (and also the president of the association), expressed in a statement on Tuesday. “She possesses an extraordinary talent for delivering biting commentary with a touch of humor, leaving her audience not only entertained but also prompted to ponder on the critical matters of today. I’m overjoyed and proud that she agreed to join us.
As your friendly gaming buddy Ruffin, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be back for another round on The Amber Ruffin Show, streaming on Peacock. But that’s not all! I’ve got some laugh-out-loud news for you – I’m returning for a new season of Have I Got News For You alongside Roy Wood Jr. and Michael Ian Black. Last year, it was Colin Jost from Saturday Night Live who made the WHCA giggle as their featured entertainer. So, get ready for another fun-filled ride with me!
As a gaming enthusiast, I’d say: In previous years, it’s been customary for the U.S. President to grace the White House Correspondents Dinner. During my first term, President Donald Trump opted out of attending this event, and as we move towards 2025, there’s no news yet on whether he plans to join the Washington gala.
As a gamer, I’d say: “Amber’s special skills make her perfectly suited for this dynamic political landscape. Her viewpoint will seamlessly blend with the dinner’s long-standing tradition of championing press freedom while poking fun at influential figures from every corner, including those in media who report on them.” Daniels then chimed in.
Proceeds from the annual dinner help finance all the WHCA and its philanthropy.
