The Finnish design studio, Vaarnii, partners with British designer John Tree, unveiling the Hoop Table Lamp – an artfully crafted lighting fixture that seamlessly combines minimalism with precise engineering, showcasing a raw and elegant aesthetic.
Made in Finland using robust solid pine and premium pine veneer, this lamp boasts a strong base for balance and an elegantly arched veneer cover that softens the light.
In this design, pine is the main feature, standing boldly at the center. Hidden within a robust foundation are the necessary electronic parts. The intricate grain pattern on the veneer shade brings a touch of elegance and softness. These two elements fit flawlessly together.
Despite its seemingly straightforward design, the Hoop Table Lamp showcases intricate craftsmanship. As Tree points out, simplicity can be challenging to attain; it’s easier to add details rather than eliminate them. Achieving the unsupported veneer shade demanded a careful balance between maintaining lightness and ensuring structural strength.
This product comes in two variations: a Large Hoop designed for desktops, sideboards, and similar larger surfaces, and a Small Hoop suitable for shelves and side tables. It seamlessly blends into diverse spaces. When turned off, it continues to serve as an intriguing sculptural piece, reflecting Tree’s belief that lighting should be aesthetically pleasing, even when not in use.
