Mugler Creative Director Casey Cadwallader Reportedly Stepping Down

As reported by WWD, it appears that Casey Cadwallader, the creative director, is leaving Mugler. He took up this position in 2018, having previously worked for fashion houses such as Marc Jacobs, Loewe, Narciso Rodriguez, and Acne Studios.

It’s plausible that the recent change could be the reason Mugler is absent from the preliminary schedule for Paris Fashion Week in March, as hinted at by WWD as early as Spring 2025, suggesting a possible departure might be on the horizon.

The spirit of Manfred Thierry Mugler, renowned for his bold and captivating interpretations of femininity, was continued and modernized by Cadwallader with a fresh, contemporary touch. This American designer brought the house into the present day with his elegant designs, all while respecting Mugler’s extensive archival collections.

The designer led Mugler into a fresh phase, clothing international celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Beyoncé, Dua Lipa, and Lady Gaga. In September, Cadwallader showcased Mugler’s SS25 collection and launched a new documentary titled “Inside the Dream: Mugler“, marking the brand’s 50th anniversary. This documentary explored Mugler’s daring haute couture creations like the “Chimère” mermaid gown, offering a peek into the production of Cadwallader’s SS24 presentation.

Although Manfred Thierry Mugler stepped down from his primary position in 2002, he came back to serve as a creative consultant for the brand in 2013. Notably, Casey Cadwallader was the last director of Mugler who collaborated with Manfred Thierry Mugler during his tenure as a creative advisor.

Mugler’s team has not confirmed Casey Cadwallader’s departure at this time.
