Recently, Sony has been taking action against various fan-created projects linked to Bloodborne. Previously, they took down a fan-made 60fps patch for their original 30fps PS4 game. More recently, they removed the PS1 demake, leaving fans curious about Sony’s stance on these fan projects.
It was disclosed that the fan-created PS1 project was taken offline by PSU, disappointing enthusiasts who were eager to explore this unique endeavor. Although it seemed reasonable to eliminate the 60 fps patch, the decision to remove a fan-made remake that doesn’t negatively impact your PlayStation 4 classic has sparked puzzlement. Given the absence of a significant remaster or remake, this action has left gamers perplexed and frustrated.
Lance McDonald, the developer behind the Bloodborne 60 fps patch, speculates that the recent DMCA takedowns could potentially pave the way for a remastered version of the game for PlayStation 5. He acknowledges on Reddit that this is more of a hopeful theory than a concrete prediction, as it lacks solid evidence. Regardless, it’s a possible interpretation of the current situation, albeit an optimistic one. It’s unfortunate that Sony seems to be taking little action with the game at present.
Despite the occasional grumbling from fans about remakes and updates, it’s clear that many of them are eager to experience an enhanced version of this FromSoftware RPG. Across the globe, gamers have been anticipating a 60 fps upgrade for this title upon the release of the PS5, yet that didn’t materialize. This was perplexing, given that different installments of the Dark Souls series did receive a complimentary 60 fps update.
At a minimum, enthusiasts can continue to experience Bloodborne on their PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Despite running at 30 frames per second, this still offers a fantastic souls-like RPG that fans of the genre will appreciate if they haven’t already played it. It’s also worth mentioning that those who have played it before often revisit it multiple times, experimenting with various character builds and strategies.
Regarding Sony discontinuing popular fan-made projects for PlayStation, and for updates on other PlayStation-related news, it’s worth noting that the Halo series might be making its way onto PS5 consoles.
