Producer and Murder Inc. Records co-founder Irv Gotti has died at 54 years old.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the news has been confirmed, but no cause of death was disclosed. His career also extended to producing tracks on albums like JAY-Z’s “Reasonable Doubt” and Kanye West’s “Violent Crimes” and “Brothers.
Def Jam is mourning the loss of one of its most creative hip-hop warriors, as stated by Lyor Cohen, who once collaborated with Gotti at Murder Inc. Records and now serves as YouTube’s global head of music. ‘When we were in dire straits, he provided the fire and saved us,’ he said. Irv is deeply missed, having come from a close-knit family in Queens, and it was an honor to have known him.
