In the past week, Squid Game remained at the top of streaming rankings, but saw a noticeable drop in viewership. Meanwhile, after airing its final episode, Landman also experienced a surge in popularity. Lastly, American Primeval made a successful first appearance.
During the week of January 6th to 12th, the series “Squid Game” accumulated a staggering 2.37 billion viewing minutes on Netflix, as reported by Nielsen’s streaming ratings. This represents a drop of approximately 48% compared to the preceding week, but it still outperforms “Landman” in second place by nearly a billion minutes. Since its season two premiere on December 26th, “Squid Game” has amassed an impressive total of 11.88 billion viewing minutes within the United States.
Over the past week, leading up to the January 12 season finale, I found myself immersed in “Landman” for an astounding 1.38 billion minutes. This marks yet another week of growth for this captivating Paramount+ drama, building on its momentum since it first premiered. From 1.3 billion minutes the previous week, it’s clear that I, along with many other viewers, can’t get enough of this gripping series!
For the week in review, the Peter Berg-directed western “American Primeval” led with an impressive 1.25 billion viewing minutes on Netflix. Meanwhile, the third season debut of Peacock’s reality show “The Traitors” saw a series high of 555 million minutes (an increase from the initial estimate of 499 million). Apple TV+’s “Silo” and Amazon Prime Video’s “Beast Games” both experienced slight growth, with 450 million minutes and 405 million minutes respectively, compared to their previous week totals.
Nielsen’s streaming rankings solely account for viewing on traditional TV screens and exclude minutes spent watching on computers or mobile devices. These ratings solely focus on American viewers, neglecting those from other countries. Here are the most popular streaming titles from January 6-12, 2025:
