Rockstar is eagerly planning to make Grand Theft Auto 6 available in 2025. Before releasing their Q3 financial report for 2024, Take-Two‘s CEO Strauss Zelnick spoke with various media outlets, confirming that the company anticipates launching GTA 6 this year.
Zelnick told IGN that there’s a possibility of delay, but he’s confident about a Fall 2025 release for GTA 6. In an interview with Variety, the CEO expressed that they’ve specified a tight timeframe, and for now, they think it’s sufficient. When Rockstar is ready to share more details, they certainly will.
There’s no denying that Rockstar Games often faces challenges with delayed releases. Given the massive scale of the sequel to the financially successful Grand Theft Auto V, it’s reasonable to anticipate at least one delay, considering their past projects.
Initially scheduled for an early 2013 launch, Grand Theft Auto V got postponed and was eventually released in September of the same year. Similarly, its PC version experienced delays as well, initially set for a November 2014 release but ultimately pushed back to April of the following year.
This time around, it seems Rockstar is quite determined that the game will be released without any delays whatsoever. A part of this assurance might stem from the extensive development phase they’ve had.
2014 saw the initial development of the game, with full-scale work commencing in 2018 immediately after the launch of Red Dead Redemption 2, as reported by Bloomberg.
Initially, a teaser for GTA 6 was unveiled in December 2023. Since then, there’s been very little news from Rockstar Games. If they want to meet the Fall 2025 release date, it’s likely that more details will be revealed sooner, rather than later, to keep fans informed.
Regardless of what has been said so far, it’s important to remember that surprises can pop up unannounced. So, until Rockstar Games officially announces a release date, we should be prepared for any unexpected changes in plans.
It’s currently planned that Grand Theft Auto 6 will be available towards the end of 2025, exclusively for Xbox Series and PlayStation 5. There’s no word yet about a PC version.
