As a film enthusiast, I’m thrilled about the rapid evolution of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), particularly with the imminent integration of the X-Men into the franchise. It seems that a fresh take on Wolverine’s origin story is in the works, as hinted by the director of our upcoming project. Despite the existence of multiple versions of this iconic character’s origin tale already, it appears that one of the MCU’s best-kept secrets has finally been confirmed official.
For quite some time now, it’s been speculated that “Captain America: Brave New World” would delve into the fate of the Celestial entity that started rising from the sea in the finale of “Eternals,” which was released in 2021. This has since been supported by various glimpses of Tiamut in the trailers for the upcoming Marvel Studios production. Moreover, a recent rumor suggesting that the deceased celestial would introduce Adamantium into the MCU and set the stage for a new Wolverine has gained credence following Julius Onah’s comments during an interview with ScreenRant.
Adamantium, unlike Vibranium which absorbs kinetic energy, exhibits exceptional durability. Adamantium is destined to play a crucial role in Project X and the narrative of Wolverine. This material, distinct from Vibranium controlled by the Wakandans, could revolutionize the world in an unexpected manner, making it a significant factor in geopolitical dynamics within our film.
Since mutants and Adamantium were unknown in our past, it’s been thrilling to captivate audiences with a fresh perspective on these concepts. It’s hard to believe I get to be part of the team that debuts Red Hulk, introduces Adamantium, and unveils the Serpent Society in the movie!
Will There Be Two Wolverines in the MCU?
As a movie enthusiast, I must confess that the narrative twist in “Captain America: Brave New World” didn’t exactly take me by surprise. The whispers about the film’s plot, circulating among the film community for quite some time, hinted at a global competition to seize the minerals and resources that transformed Tiamut’s body. It was clear then that this race would pave the way for the arrival of a familiar face – Wolverine. However, as we all know, plans can sometimes change unexpectedly.
Ever since whispers about his return started circulating, Hugh Jackman surprised fans by stepping back into the role of Wolverine in “Deadpool & Wolverine“. This unexpected move has ignited a new wave of speculation – primarily that Jackman is considering an extended stay in the role. It’s not like he plans to play the character until he turns 90, but for several more years, at least. So, could we potentially see two Wolverines coexisting in the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
It’s likely that “Avengers: Secret Wars” might bring about a prolonged presence for characters like Jackman’s Wolverine within the main MCU timeline, potentially delaying the introduction of a new Wolverine. This could be significant in relation to the anticipated Mutant Saga, which is speculated to follow “Secret Wars”. Although it’s uncertain if we’ll ever see two Wolverines simultaneously, it’s clear that Marvel Studios has plans for the character’s future evolution, regardless of who steps into the role.
