Actress Madelyn Cline has signed up to work alongside Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz in the upcoming action-thriller “Day Drinker,” which director Marc Webb will helm for Lionsgate.
Actress Madeline Cline, who will once again take the lead in the Netflix series “Outer Banks” for its last and fifth season, is also slated to appear in Sony’s “I Know What You Did Last Summer” and Amazon MGM’s “The Map That Leads to You.”

In recent years, Johnny Depp has taken on his most popular role since his divorce controversies with Amber Heard, starring in a new film titled “Day Drinker“. This movie revolves around a cruise ship bartender who encounters an enigmatic day drinker. However, their casual encounter leads them both into the depths of a criminal underworld, and they discover unforeseen connections between them. The production for this film is handled by Thunder Road’s Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, known for producing the Lionsgate-distributed John Wick franchise, as well as Adam Kolbrenner and Zach Dean.
Chelsea Kujawa is managing the project at Lionsgate, while Dan Freedman handles the negotiations for the studio.
In the action genre, where Dean has built a reputation with films like “Tomorrow War,” “Fast X,” and an upcoming thriller titled “The Gorge,” it was he who initially drafted the screenplay. The movie “The Gorge” written by Kolbrenner and Dean will be available on Apple TV+/Skydance starting next week.
30WEST and Lionsgate have recently joined forces again, just as they did for the music-themed comedy “Power Ballad,” directed by John Carney and starring Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas. Together, they are now producing a new film called “Day Drinker“.
30WEST is also set to oversee the production of “Day Drinker”, a collaborative effort between Thunder Road and In.2, which marks the fourth time Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz have joined forces for a project. Previously, they’ve worked together in “Blow”, “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”, and “Murder on the Orient Express”.
Cline is represented by CAA, and Entertainment 360.
