However, in a recent response to a comment on Threads, Gunn clarified that every aspect of the DC Comics universe will serve as inspiration for the franchise’s future direction. When asked about which era of DC he would be concentrating on, Gunn replied:

The DCU Is Bringing Some Unexpected Characters to Screens

As a die-hard cinema enthusiast, I’ve always found Zack Snyder’s tenure in the DC universe captivating due to his knack for delivering contemporary, gritty takes on iconic DC Comics narratives. His trilogy, consisting of “Man of Steel,” “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” and “Justice League,” unfolded like a well-orchestrated three-act play, leaving little room for speculation about future plans beyond that narrative arc. However, there were tantalizing glimpses of unexplored territories, such as the proposed Ben Affleck-led solo Batman film, which could have opened up an entirely different chapter in this epic saga.

Instead of how Gunn varies from Snyder, it’s more accurate to say that Gunn is introducing a lot more unconventional and lesser-known characters into the franchise compared to Snyder’s focus on DC’s most popular figures. This ranges from a Robin movie to projects like The Authority, as well as numerous appearances of lesser-known characters within Creature Commandos and Superman’s roster. The universe Gunn is creating is so expansive that it could potentially feature any character from any era of DC Comics, providing both familiarity for longtime fans and a fresh favorite for new viewers.

The highly responsive and popular series, “Creature Commandos,” has built up a lot of anticipation.
