Unleash the Statham! 7 Must-See Action Flicks on Prime Video Now!

Jason Statham seems destined to continue shattering bones, causing explosions, and entertaining us until he turns 90, and that’s something we eagerly anticipate. There’s no other actor we’d prefer for such action-packed roles. Statham first gained fame in Guy Ritchie’s “Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels.” Ever since then, he has discharged countless bullets and exceeded the speed limit more times than any other movie star behind the wheel. However, it appears that audiences can never get enough of his action-packed performances, as demonstrated by his 2024 ranking among the world’s most bankable stars.

In his acting career, Statham has starred in 45 films, including the latest one titled “A Working Man“. Majority of these movies belong to the action genre. For a new fan who wants to watch all of his films, it can be quite a challenge sifting through the multitude of streaming services available. However, Prime Video offers a good selection of Statham’s work, with seven action films currently accessible. More are expected to be added in the future. We will certainly inform you when that happens.

‘Chaos’ (2005)

Director Tony Gilrocco may not have a long list of accomplishments, but he’s earned our admiration by casting Jason Statham and Wesley Snipes in the same film. There’s a hint of the dynamic seen in “Demolition Man,” where Detective Quentin Conners (played by Jason Statham) is on the trail of robber Lorenz (Wesley Snipes). However, it’s puzzling why Lorenz hasn’t made off with anything from his most recent heist. The enigmatic entity known as Chaos seems to hold the key to this mystery.

Who to Root For?

This fast-paced action movie is simply breathtaking in summary. The director skillfully combines grand visual spectacle with awe-inspiring gunfights, resulting in a suspenseful, thrilling, and occasionally melancholic story that rekindles our passion for the genre. It certainly helps to have the acting prowess of Ryan Phillipe and Henry Czerny, along with the enchanting charm of Justine Waddell, to drive the complex plot forward. Despite its heavy dose of gunfire and fistfights, this Chaos is a ride you won’t want to miss.

‘Redemption’ aka ‘Hummingbird’ (2013)

Joey (Statham), from Hummingbird, encounters the standard veterinary issues that no government appears interested in resolving. After returning to London from Afghanistan, he finds himself jobless and homeless. To add to his troubles, he’s dealing with PTSD. Fortunately, he finds temporary refuge in an apartment owned by a photographer who is out of the country for eight months. However, things take a grim turn when he crosses paths with a nun.

Peaking Into London’s Underworld

As a movie enthusiast, I must say that the futuristic neon aesthetic, the acidic narrative, and the daring Lynchian undertones make “Hummingbird” a strong production. Given that Steven Knight, the mastermind behind “Peaky Blinders,” was at the helm, the excellence of this film comes as no shock. Typically, Knight gravitates towards drama, but the action here might deceive you into believing he’s been delving into this genre for eons. Without a doubt, it ranks amongst Jason Statham’s finest non-American films.

‘13’ (2010)

In the movie “13“, Vince (Sam Riley) finds himself facing tough times. When he comes across a letter concerning money meant for a deceased individual, he scrutinizes it carefully. The letter mentions a secret tournament offering substantial prizes. Intrigued by the opportunity, Vince decides to impersonate the intended recipient and sets off to the specified location. Once there, he is compelled to join a lethal game of Russian roulette, orchestrated by affluent individuals, among whom is Jason Statham’s character.

The Dark Games of the Elite

Géla Babluani’s fiery tale of desperation and exploitation is a contemporary, thoughtfully crafted production. The swift tempo and vivid imagery are unsurprising since the film is a remake of 13 Tzaméti by the same director. Statham delivers an exceptional performance as a malevolent high-society figure, while Mickey Rourke and 50 Cent shine in their respective roles. It’s enjoyable to witness Stathan in a part that requires less frequent use of his fists.

4
‘Safe’ (2012)

Luke Wright (portrayed by Statham in the film “Safe”), originally a reserved ex-cage fighter, finds himself in a rut after the Russian mob took the lives of his family due to him intentionally losing a fight. However, he encounters a young girl with exceptional mathematical skills who is being pursued by the Chinese Triad. Consequently, his world becomes more turbulent, but there could potentially be a glimmer of hope.

Never Mess with a Child

The potent scene depicting a man shielding a child is intricately woven with probable elements and characters, yet its emotional impact remains undiminished. Kudos to the young actress, Catherine Chan, for her captivating portrayal of Mei. Her presence lends a tender balance to the main conflicts. Despite the pervasive danger in the movie, under Statham’s command, you’ll feel as secure as Mei does in Safe.

3
‘The Beekeeper’ (2024)

A significant phishing scheme is currently underway in the community known as The Beekeeper. Despite having sufficient funds to construct towers, those responsible are reckless in choosing their victims. Unfortunately for them, they pick on an elderly woman who has graciously welcomed a retired secret agent named Adam Clay (Statham) into her home. Unsurprisingly, he decides to take action against them.

The Punisher?

Let me echo you, ‘I won’t take from the powerless and defenceless evermore'”

Jason Statham’s action movies may not often win critical praise, but this time, everyone was impressed, even the spectators who made the $160 million box office a reality. Here’s hoping for part two, with David Ayer returning as director.

2
‘Wild Card’ (2015)

Following the 1985 novel Heat by William Goldman and the 1986 Burt Reynolds movie, Wild Card tells the story of Nick Wild (played by Statham), a skilled Las Vegas bodyguard who squanders his earnings on gambling. A turning point occurs when a gangster attacks his loving friend, a prostitute. In retaliation for this attack, Nick takes matters into his own hands. However, this act triggers the mob to pursue him relentlessly.

Obliterating the Mob

In a directorial effort by Simon West (known for films like Con Air, Tomb Raider, and The Expendables 2), Wild Card presents a heartfelt portrayal of Vegas’ grittier realities, surpassing the Burt Reynolds version in many aspects. Jason Statham delivers a powerful performance as a resolute guardian unwilling to stand idly by while oppression unfolds, reminiscent of hardened bauxite ore. Sofía Vergara appears in a brief but impactful role, playing D.D., a socialite who enlists Nick’s services.

1
‘Blitz’ (2011)

Fear has spread throughout the law enforcement community in South East London during the Blitz. A ruthless killer is specifically targeting police officers, leading detective sergeant Tom Brant (Statham) to take on the task of finding him before he strikes again. Will Brant be able to catch the culprit before the criminal catches him?

Who Will Stop the Menace?

If you’ve come across such a villain before, one who seeks media attention after attacking cops, then brace yourself for something unique. You may think you’ve witnessed Jason Statham’s punching style before, but nothing compares to his performance in the Lionsgate film “Blitz.” This movie is unadulterated action pleasure. The hard-boiled Luke Evans, who shares the screen with Jason Statham as his brother in the Fast & Furious series, is also part of the cast. Despite your initial reservations, you’re in for a delightful viewing experience.
