The celebrity-studded tennis tournament known as Desert Smash, where champion tennis players and famous actors play together for charity, has revealed that proceeds from this year’s matches will support the WTA Foundation’s International Women’s Health Program.
The 21st edition of the tournament is making a comeback at the recently refurbished La Quinta Resort & Club, happening on March 3 and 4. Tickets for this event can be purchased online via desertsmash.com. Some of the confirmed tennis players include Naomi Osaka, Aryna Sabalenka, Nick Kyrgios, Ons Jabeur, Barbora Krejčíkova, Alexander Zverev, and Holger Rune, with additional names to be announced. This two-day event is also a fundraiser, featuring the second annual pickleball challenge jointly hosted by four-time Grand Slam winner Naomi Osaka and seven-time ATP champion Nick Kyrgios.
As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be part of an extraordinary event, where the prestigious cookware brand HexClad is joining forces to offer a remarkable culinary journey for attendees. This outstanding gathering in 2025 will also be sponsored by a diverse group of esteemed companies such as Maestro Dobel Tequila, Herbalife, electric vehicle pioneer Rivian, sports apparel leader Head, renowned auction house Mecum Auctions, wine connoisseurs Thatcher’s Wine, health-conscious brand Roar Organic, Boast, Mountain Valley Water, Suntory All-Free brewing company, VCR Group, Zenyara, LumiVitae, Subject, MVA Experiential, Interior Branding California, Benvolio, BC.Games, Miami Pickleball Club, Inner Game AI and many more. This collaboration promises an unforgettable experience that reflects the shared values of innovation, quality, and excellence.
In the previous year, the Desert Smash event featured Oscar-winning actress Charlize Theron, a tennis enthusiast, teaming up for doubles with unexpected partner Novak Djokovic, in aid of her charity, Africa Outreach Project. Notable past participants have been Serena Williams, Will Ferrell, Casper Ruud, Justin Bieber, and Kevin Hart. This charitable match will align with the BNP Paribas Open tournament happening at Indian Wells Tennis Garden from March 2 to 16 this year.
As a gamer, I’m thrilled to share that our tournament, Desert Smash in March, will be backing the WTA Foundation Global Women’s Health Fund as our chosen charity. I’ve been pouring my heart into organizing an event that not only promises fun but also aims to rake in a substantial amount of funds for this fantastic cause. This is more than just a game to me; it’s about making a difference, and I can’t wait to see the impact we’ll make together!
According to Ann Austin, the executive director of WTA Foundation, our aim at the WTA Foundation is to bring together the tennis community in a way that significantly changes lives. With the help of the Gates Foundation and UNICEF, this year’s Desert Smash will provide a chance for fans to make a substantial difference. We are convinced that every woman and girl should have the opportunity to receive necessary health and nutrition resources, and we are thrilled to contribute more vital tools to tackle this worldwide challenge.
Ever since its establishment back in 2004, I’ve been proud to be part of a gaming community that has collectively raised an incredible $3.6 million for various charities. Among them are the Africa Outreach Project, Playing for Change Foundation, Sophie’s Voice Foundation, Cancer for College, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Yetunde Price Resource Center. It’s truly heartening to know we’re making a difference in so many lives!
2025’s Desert Smash tickets are now on sale! You can grab them starting from $320 for regular seating up to $10,292 for VIP table packages. For more details and purchases, head over to desertsmash.com.
