Aēsop’s “Aurner” Eau de Parfum Boasts an Unconventional Floral Scent

Following the debut of “Virēre” as a new Eau de Parfum chapter last summer, Aēsop has come back with another fragrance option: “Aurner.

Under the long-term partnership with Aesop’s collaborator Céline Barel, “Aurner” is the brand’s latest contribution to its expanding Eau de Parfum lineup, making it the 12th addition. This fragrance, characterized as a “rebellious blossom,” challenges conventional perceptions of floral scents and provides a unique olfactory journey that combines robustness with delicacy.

As I dive into this latest gaming session, the scent that envelops me is uniquely crafted, blending magnolia leaf, Roman chamomile, and cedar heart. It’s unlike any other fragrance I’ve encountered, offering a subtle, tea-like aroma with an unexpected twist.

The initial burst is invigorating, with bright citrus notes that are swiftly followed by the zesty spice of cardamom and pink pepper. But it’s the warm, sweet, herbaceous hug from Roman chamomile that lingers, completing this intriguing scent profile.

As the melody softens, the scent unveils its flowery essence, blending the sweet aroma of magnolia leaves with vibrant geranium in a captivating interplay, surrounded by the earthiness of cardamom in forested undertones. The scent is rooted by a complex, tactile base of sandalwood, cypriol, and cedar heart, maintaining its strength.

The name “Aurner” comes from an Old Norse verb signifying ‘to adorn’ or ‘to embellish with flowers’, symbolizing how the scent envelops the skin and gives the wearer confidence. This idea was also expressed in a partnership with Patcharavipa Bodiratnangkura, a renowned jewelry designer from Bangkok, who crafted a delicate yet resilient piece that captures the emotional complexities within the perfume’s aroma.

Beginning on February 24, the latest scent will debut through Aēsop and will cost around $193 USD. Additionally, Patcharavipa Bodiratnangkura’s custom-made ear cuff for “Aurner” can be purchased for approximately $385 USD at Aēsop locations in Hong Kong’s ifc Mall and Harbour City exclusively.
