As a die-hard movie buff, I’ve been eagerly anticipating the return of “The Night Agent” for its second season in this year’s TV lineup, and let me tell you, fellow cinephiles, it didn’t disappoint! With a dedicated fanbase and undeniably ranking among Netflix’s top shows currently, the wait for new episodes has been agonizing, considering the first season dropped back in March 2023. But fear not, for next time around, we won’t have to endure such a long wait!
It was announced back in October 2024 that The Night Agent would be returning for Season 3. Although this news was thrilling, it didn’t necessarily mean that the new season would air immediately. However, recent developments suggest that there won’t be a lengthy break between Seasons 2 and 3. Netflix has confirmed via an Instagram video that production on the new episodes is currently underway. In the clip, lead actor Gabriel Basso discloses that filming is happening in Istanbul, and it appears that the cast and crew are enjoying themselves based on their expressions.

In the video, it’s mentioned that the atmosphere on the set of Shawn Ryan’s series is energetic, suggesting a positive outlook for the production process. Given the high-intensity nature of an action-packed series like this one, maintaining a strong team spirit is crucial during filming. Moreover, I find the location for Season 3 – Istanbul – to be fascinating. With its rich history and culture, I can’t help but anticipate the exciting journeys that character Peter Sutherland might experience within the Turkish city.
Although we know that production for Season 2 started in February 2024 and wrapped up by June of the same year, it’s unclear when exactly Season 3 will be available. Based on this timeline, I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of Season 3 premiering quite early in 2026. While this is still a significant wait, fans can take comfort in the fact that it won’t be as long a gap as the almost two-year hiatus they experienced between Seasons 1 and 2.

In Season 3 of The Night Agent, I’m eagerly anticipating the possible return of a character from Season 2, with the hope that they will join forces once again with Peter.
Given its exceptional popularity, it’s reasonable to expect that Netflix subscribers might get Season 3 of “The Night Agent” ahead of the second season. In 2023, the series shattered many records and ranked as the ninth most-streamed show on Netflix, achieving this milestone in just three weeks. Remarkably, it has continued to trend highly on the platform, although it recently slipped from the top spot due to the live viewership advantage of “Monday Night Raw.
Despite attempts to suppress it, the show remains high on the trending list, sitting comfortably at No. 5. So far, Gabriel Basso and the team have shown great enthusiasm for Season 3. In an interview with TopMob, Basso hinted at Nepal as a possible location for future filming, which I find intriguing. As of now, specifics about the plot are being kept secret, but one interesting tidbit has been revealed – Fola Evans-Akingbola will reappear full time as Chelsea Arrington, a character we were introduced to during Season 1.
Anticipating fresh episodes of “The Night Agent” might be challenging, but at least viewers can take solace in knowing that filming is happening right now. Fingers crossed for a smooth production process as well. In the interim, why not log onto Netflix and catch up on seasons one and two?
