Ever since its premiere in 2022, “Reacher” has emerged as one of Prime Video’s most popular shows. The highly successful first season set the bar high for Season 2, but it still managed to draw record viewership and become the most-watched show of 2023, despite being released near the end of the year. With Season 3 on the horizon, fans are eagerly anticipating the tough fights that Jack Reacher will engage in when he goes up against the massive Paulie, portrayed by “The Dutch Giant,” [Actor’s Name].
It’s challenging to dispute that Ritchson is a large individual, and during the transition from Season 1 to Season 2 of Reacher, he significantly increased his size. But in Season 3, he will encounter his toughest test yet – physically – as he finds himself noticeably smaller than the bodyguard of the villainous Zachary Beck (portrayed by Anthony Michael Hall). As the much-awaited confrontation approaches, Ritcher shared insights with Empire on how this dramatic event will unfold.
The dedication they show towards Reacher and Paulie is incredible, almost as if the fight could last forever. While I wouldn’t predict an Oscar win for the fight scene, it promises to be breathtaking. Jokingly, I told [Alan] he was like Reacher in real life, but there’s a grain of truth to that. With so many lines to memorize, constant performances, regular meals, and training sessions after long filming days, his endurance is extraordinary – something I can barely imagine.
‘Reacher’ Is Doing Lee Child’s Novels Right
Despite not achieving flawless ratings for Season 2, it’s hard to deny that the series is striking a chord that was missing in the two films featuring Tom Cruise as Jack Reacher – an authentic portrayal of the character. While the Jack Reacher movies starring Tom Cruise have seen a surge in popularity on free streaming services like Tubi and Freevee lately.
In the films, they developed their own fanbase, but viewers of Amazon’s series were excited to witness a portrayal that accurately depicted Jack Reacher’s towering stature, raw power, and aggressive fighting style. The first season, based on Child’s “Killing Floor”, presented Reacher as a silent traveler who unwittingly gets embroiled in a small-town mystery. Ritchson effectively conveyed the physicality and commanding presence required to portray Reacher’s no-nonsense demeanor and devastating combat abilities.
In the second season of the series inspired by the book “Bad Luck and Trouble,” a fresh cast was introduced to join Ritchson in an independent narrative. This new tale didn’t necessitate viewers to have watched the first season to follow along, opening up opportunities for Season 3 to grow even larger. With minimal connections between stories, newcomers can easily hop aboard and catch up on previous seasons at their leisure.
Despite the fact that Reacher’s success isn’t solely dependent on intense fights, the tantalizing prospect of Reacher engaging in a fierce brawl with one of his toughest enemies yet will undoubtedly draw in many viewers when the initial three episodes of Reacher Season 3 become available on Prime Video on February 20, 2025.
