The Harry Potter films were full of touching scenes, such as heart-wrenching deaths in the Wizarding World or when events didn’t go as planned during the battle against Voldemort. However, behind the magic and drama on screen, the cast of Harry Potter had plenty of amusing moments during filming that are definitely worth revisiting. For instance, a behind-the-scenes video showed Rupert Grint once tricking Daniel Radcliffe while in costume as a Death Eater on set. Trust me, it’s absolutely hilarious to watch!
Do you remember the movie “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2”? This film, one of the highest-grossing movies ever made, may be familiar to many of you. In it, Ron and Hermione don disguises while Harry takes refuge under his Invisibility Cloak in order to infiltrate Gringotts Wizarding Bank.
Hermione drinks Polyjuice Potion to look like Bellatrix Lestrange and Ron disguises himself as a Death Eater. Harry revealed in a deleted scene he wouldn’t have recognized him if he didn’t know Ron, and now fans can see the moment play out in real life via a BTS Instagram video where Daniel Radcliffe also lacks recognition.

It’s evident that Rupert Grint went to great lengths by disguising himself, using what he thought was Gary Oldman’s old wig when portraying Sirius Black. He also grew a full beard and darkened his eyebrows for the role. Given his signature red hair, many people on set didn’t recognize him. Even Daniel Radcliffe, his longtime Harry Potter co-star, failed to identify him at that time.
The team behind the iconic film series, Harry Potter, have spent numerous years collaborating, and there are countless heartwarming and amusing instances waiting to be discovered. For instance, Alan Rickman and Michael Gambon once played a practical joke on Daniel Radcliffe using a farting device, leading everyone to believe he was passing wind! Additionally, you’ll find delightful videos of the young cast members acting like kids, such as Tom Felton goofing around on the Prisoner of Azkaban set with an oversized yo-yo and a nostalgic clip of Felton and Emma Watson engaging in a hand game during a brief break from filming. These charming moments demonstrate that the Harry Potter set felt like a second home to these child actors.
I enjoy witnessing the camaraderie between Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe. Their friendship, evident in behind-the-scenes footage and during the Harry Potter 10th anniversary reunion, was profound as they portrayed young wizards. This bond still resonates with fans, and Grint has admitted he cherished his relationship with Radcliffe and Emma Watson. With a new Harry Potter TV series on the horizon, it seems that a fresh crop of young British actors will experience the challenge of filling the large shoes left by the original trio.
If Rupert Grint managed to deceive Daniel Radcliffe using his convincing Death Eater disguise, it’s evident that the skill in Hollywood’s hair and makeup departments truly deserves a standing ovation. Although the Wizarding World has the Polyjuice Potion for altering magical beings, Hollywood possesses its unique magic that can transform actors so effectively that their fellow actors don’t recognize them – this hidden talent doesn’t receive enough praise.
You have the opportunity to view the moving “Deathly Hallows: Part 2” scene, along with the rest of the “Harry Potter” movies, using your Peacock or Max subscription. Don’t forget to mark the upcoming TV series adaptation for release in 2026 on your watchlist!
