Ridley Scott’s upcoming dystopian thriller, titled “The Dog Stars,” has added Jacob Elordi to its cast following his initial role as the main character.
I’m buzzing with excitement as I hear rumors about Margaret Qualley, Josh Brolin, and Guy Pearce potentially joining the cast for an upcoming movie from 20th Century Studios! This film is based on Peter Heller’s 2012 apocalyptic novel, and Mark L. Smith has done a fantastic job adapting it to the big screen. I can’t wait to see what unfolds in this post-apocalyptic world!
The Dog Stars” revolves around a civilian aircraft pilot surviving on a deserted airbase along with his dog and an ex-Marine, in the aftermath of a catastrophic pandemic. A faint signal received through the pilot’s radio from his 1956 Cessna provides a glimmer of hope for a brighter future.
Last month, The Hollywood Reporter announced that Elordi was in preliminary discussions to take over from Paul Mescal in a role. Scott mentioned at a screening of Gladiator II in December that Mescal might no longer be working with him on The Dog Stars because the actor is occupied with Sam Mendes’ four-part Beatles project. Sony has not verified the rumors about Mescal being cast as Paul McCartney.
I’m thrilled to be part of the team behind “The Dog Stars,” a production under the esteemed Scott Free banner, where Smith and I, Cliff Roberts, serve as producers.
Actress Qualley garnered acclaim for her part in last year’s film “The Substance,” and she will appear later this year in the movies titled “Honey Don’t! ” and “Happy Gilmore 2.” Actor Brolin has upcoming projects like “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” and director Edgar Wright’s reboot of “The Running Man.” Pearce received a nomination for the best supporting actor Oscar for his role in “The Brutalist,” which represents his first Academy Award recognition.
Deadline was first to report the addition of Qualley, Brolin and Pearce.
