Blake Lively‘s lawyers have served subpoenas on consultant Jed Wallace from a crisis management firm, as well as AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and various other organizations, in an attempt to gather additional proof supporting the claim that Justin Baldoni orchestrated a smear campaign against her.
Ms. Lively’s legal team, Mike Gottlieb and Esra Hudson, have started an investigation to uncover the individuals, strategies, and actions used to undermine her reputation and family for the past year. They will now gather evidence that, as expected, is not available on Mr. Freedman’s website. Just like Ms. Lively, these pieces of evidence will eventually be presented in court.” (Mr. Freedman represents Baldoni, who launched a revised lawsuit against Blake and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, on his public website.)
Last week, subpoenas were issued following the withdrawal of a deposition request from Lively’s legal team in Texas towards Wallace. This move could potentially involve Wallace in their ongoing lawsuit against Baldoni and others in New York. In response, Wallace filed a 11-page counterclaim alleging defamation against Lively. Consequently, this allows for discovery proceedings and the possibility of being questioned by Lively’s legal team.
Concerning the reason behind summoning Wallace, a representative stated in a statement, “In private communications with Baldoni’s team that they didn’t anticipate would be viewed, they boasted about how through Jed’s efforts, the focus shifted towards Blake and mocked the fact that people are quick to criticize a woman. We are excited to delve deeper into Jed Wallace’s overall business strategy and uncover any other attempts he made to divert attention from the serious sexual harassment and retaliation allegations brought forth by Ms. Lively. We are thrilled to begin the discovery process.
In the ongoing legal dispute over “It Ends With Us”, AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Cloudflare Inc., and AOL have been served subpoenas. The representative from Lively stated that phone records of all individual defendants will reveal the intricate network of people involved in the smear campaign against Ms. Lively. These records are expected to offer crucial and undeniable evidence not only about who was involved, but also when, where, and how the plan for retaliation was coordinated and executed. Furthermore, internet records will shed light on the participation of various individuals potentially playing significant roles in digital retribution.
Next Tuesday, I, Lively, plan to officially amend my lawsuit against Baldoni and his partner Jamey Heath at Wayfarer, as well as their publicist Jennifer Abel and crisis PR executive Melissa Nathan. My team had requested an extension from the court until March 5th, but instead, we were granted only four extra days (the original deadline was Feb. 14).
In response to the subpoenas, Freedman stated in a statement to THR, “Subpoenas are a typical aspect of legal proceedings. However, what’s unusual is what the Lively Parties demand. They want access to all calls, texts, data logs, and even real-time location information for the past 2.5 years, regardless of who was involved or the topic discussed. This extensive search appears to be a desperate attempt to find evidence for their unfounded claims. They will not find any.”
On the last day of 2024, Lively brought a lawsuit in the Southern District of New York’s federal court against Baldoni Health, Abel, and Nathan. In her legal claim, Lively alleges that Baldoni, her costar and director from “It Ends With Us,” subjected her to sexual harassment and conspired with his associates to tarnish her reputation. A short while later, Baldoni retaliated by filing a suit against Lively and Reynolds, accusing them of engaging in their own defamatory campaign. (Baldoni is also suing “The New York Times” for libel over an article they published about Lively in December.)
A trial date is currently set for March 2026.
