Dynasty Warriors Goes the Hades Route to Bring Us Warriors Abyss

Dynasty Warriors has joined the roguelike genre by introducing a new game called Warriors Abyss, which resembles Hades. Surprisingly, Sony’s State of Play presentation unveiled that the game is already available for play, an unexpected twist. Given the frequent criticism of the Warriors series for being too easy, this new game could potentially bring a fresh challenge to players.

In the latest State of Play, we’ve seen how Abyss blends the traditional Warriors gameplay with roguelike features. This means players will continue to slay massive hordes of enemies as their preferred historical character, but they’ll also encounter challenging bosses that could potentially defeat them. It offers a satisfying balance between the familiar power fantasy and the toughness typical of roguelikes.

In Warriors Abyss, you’ll find characters hailing from Koei Tecmo’s Samurai Warriors series alongside Dynasty Warriors. This means that historical figures from both China and Japan will be joining forces to battle hoards of monsters in the game. It remains to be seen if these characters have unique playstyles, but the roguelike aspects of the game should provide a distinct experience for each one.

As a gamer, I’ve got to tell you, it’s pretty cool that this game lets me join forces with other characters and unleash some fancy moves to take out most of the on-screen foes. Plus, the isometric viewpoint really adds to the experience, making it super satisfying to watch those goons get taken down!

Experimenting with Warriors Abyss adopting the roguelike approach is quite daring, considering Omega Force has predominantly stuck to their traditional gameplay style throughout the series. However, this repetitiveness may have become monotonous for some fans, making a departure like this potentially illuminate the darkness. Whether it reaches the heights of Hades and its sequel remains to be seen, but it’s expected to be an enjoyable experience nonetheless.

Warriors Abyss is now available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
