Marvel’s Tight Script Security Originated from a Samuel L. Jackson Assistant’s Mistake

As a die-hard Marvel fan, I can’t help but be thrilled about the rollercoaster ride that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has taken me on, consistently delivering fresh content in cinemas and through my Disney+ subscription. The next installment that has me eagerly waiting is “Captain America: Brave New World,” where Anthony Mackie steps into the limelight as our new Captain America. Interestingly enough, it was Samuel L. Jackson who played a significant role in maintaining Marvel’s stringent script security, as he recently revealed. And let me tell you, the storyline is nothing short of spectacular!

Fans who spent the Marvel movies in order know that the studio is notoriously secretive with scripts, not even allowing actors to take them home. While this is common knowledge at this point, the origin of this security measure actually goes back to the first Avengers flick. During a clip from The Graham Norton Show on BBC America’s instagram, Mackie offered some context, saying:

Everything kicked off when Sam Jackson received the first Avengers script at work. His assistant then downloaded the script and attempted to print it from a computer in the office. However, the print didn’t come out as expected, so they called the tech for assistance. The tech worked on the printer, and finally, the script was printed. Unfortunately, Sam had accidentally clicked the print command twice, resulting in two copies of the script being produced.

It seems as if we’re experiencing a situation reminiscent of “The Office,” don’t you think? Interestingly, the reason behind Marvel Studios’ intense focus on script security may be due to an administrative oversight. The mishap of leaking the initial “Avengers” script was already problematic enough, but for confidential, high-stakes projects such as “Infinity War” and “Endgame,” it would have been catastrophic. Perhaps Marvel decided to avoid repeating that risk.

In the very same television interview, Anthony Mackie later disclosed the fate of the mysterious extra “Avengers” script. Unfortunately, the story didn’t have a positive ending, according to him.

After departing from the project, I stumbled upon a new script that had been penned. Upon further investigation, I discovered that one of the producers had found this script lying in the printer and decided to sell it. Unbelievable! Before I knew it, the entire script was leaked online, leaving me bewildered and frustrated.

Whoa, it seems not only did the screenplay for the movie get leaked, but someone within the team managed to make a substantial profit by selling it illegally online. Now, the stringent security measures they had in place don’t appear quite so excessive, do they?

Details about “Captain America: Brave New World” have been scarce, but now it’s finally hitting the big screen, sparking excitement among fans as they wonder how Anthony Mackie will hold up as the new Captain America without superpowers, but equipped with vibranium wings for combat reminiscent of Red Hulk. Fans are also intrigued to see how the film handles its connections to previous projects such as “The Incredible Hulk” and “Eternals”. The pressure is high on “Captain America 4”, set for release in 2025, to impress at the box office following some underperforming MCU films. Here’s hoping this guy gets his shield soon!
