SPOILERS are ahead for Love Is Blind Season 8, episodes 1-6.
For quite some time, “Love Is Blind” has been my preferred dating series on Netflix that I never miss watching. However, as the show marks its fifth year and eighth season, and the new season is set to air in 2025, I’ve come to understand that my feelings towards this experiment have been a mix of affection and frustration.
It’s clear that the show primarily exists for viewer enjoyment, including myself, but there’s a part of me that believes it holds a unique ability to unite genuine couples, unlike many other reality shows. To be honest, I crave romantic moments over drama. Luckily, Season 8 is delivering on the romantic aspects I appreciate so far in the series.
Amongst the numerous Netflix dating shows available today, the initial moment I hit play on “Love Is Blind” stands out distinctly as it left me genuinely smitten. The concept of couples connecting without initially seeing each other is quite intriguing, particularly in this era dominated by dating apps where my friends typically meet their partners based on physical attraction first, often forming assumptions.
I’d love to share my thoughts on what I believe the eighth season of our favorite show might bring, given that all six episodes have been released. Frankly, I’m feeling optimistic that this upcoming season could be the best one yet!
Why Love Is Blind Has Not Swept Me Off My Feet In Years
Over the past three seasons, the pattern has stayed quite consistent: Only one pair out of several end up getting married, while most relationships are tumultuous or unsuccessful. The last season was especially chaotic, with multiple scandals and love triangles that left many viewers questioning the compatibility of the couples. In fact, we’ve even turned to international versions of “Love Is Blind,” such as the latest UK version, in search of a more promising romantic storyline.
I’m here for some meme-worthy scenes and the series unveiling the complexity of romantic relationships – after all, love can be quite a tangled web. However, considering these participants are willing to marry in just four weeks, there ought to be some guiding principle that makes it seem like they’re partaking in an actual social experiment. Over time, it seems like the same issues recur and the producers haven’t done much to address them from their side.

But, Minnesota’s Contestants Had Me In Sweet Tears Of Joy
After that, I sat down to watch every episode of this latest season’s pod segments. As Vanessa and Nick Lachey introduce the new season, they claim it’s their “biggest” yet due to having more singles in the pods than ever before (a total of 32). I believe the increased number might have been worthwhile. While watching the pod episodes, I felt like there were many more meaningful and heartfelt connections being forged, leaving me eager to see how things would unfold for several couples – including those I had hoped wouldn’t succeed.
It seems to me that this season of the show is different from others, perhaps due to it being set in Minnesota. Unlike some seasons where people join just for fame, many participants seem genuine and sincere in their intentions. Though the pace can be a bit slow and uneventful at times, I found myself captivated by how each couple develops and what draws them to commit to an engagement. The show felt more like a meaningful social experiment rather than a mere popularity contest. The sweet moments of revelation were heartwarming, such as when Monica and Joey met for the first time, and I even shed tears of joy.

I Also Feel Like A Lot Of The Potential Drama Was Nipped In The Pods
Currently, I’m leaning towards the idea that some couples might face challenges upon leaving the pods, although it doesn’t have the typical over-the-top “reality TV” atmosphere like we usually see when a season’s cliffhanger is revealed for the upcoming episodes. This could be due to the fact that certain contestants who I believe wouldn’t last seemed to realize their relationships weren’t ready to progress further, as exemplified by Alex, Madison, Colton, and Meg not coupling up. If they had coupled up, there might have been more drama with hurt feelings and slamming doors, but instead, it seems they all understood that their relationships required more time to develop.
It’s likely you’re wondering who has me concerned? David is my top concern due to his apparent involvement in the unnecessary drama between Molly and Taylor, which I fear might impact his relationship with Taylor. I’m not entirely convinced about Devin and Virginia yet; maybe it’s because he appeared somewhat indifferent during the pods, but I could change my mind about them. There was an unusual incident involving Ben when Sarah discussed social issues with him, but they seem solid otherwise!

And, The Biggest Cliffhanger So Far Feels So Harmless
In conclusion, there’s an intriguing “plot twist” about Daniel and Taylor potentially encountering each other in future episodes. Reportedly, Taylor suspects that Daniel may have tracked her and then untracked her at certain points, implying he knew about her all along. This leaves me guessing what will happen between them next – will Daniel turn out to be a sinister figure or will they resume their relationship? However, after viewing the initial episodes, it appears quite innocent. I’m skeptical that things will escalate into chaos and steer the show towards unpredictable territories.
To put it another way, this season seems to be filled with warmth and innocence that I can’t help but feel optimistic about. Despite my skepticism about finding a lifelong partner in just four weeks, I sense that some of these contestants might go as far as previous couples who have ended up getting married.
