In simpler terms, Aditya Chopra’s widely acclaimed YRF Spy Universe consists of a string of action-packed spy films. These films have achieved great success due to the memorable characters portrayed by Bollywood stars, such as Ashutosh Rana who appeared as Colonel Sunil Luthra in the 2019 film War and the 2023 movie Pathaan starring Shah Rukh Khan. As two upcoming films within this universe, War 2 and Alpha are set to captivate audiences, with Rana confirming his continued involvement in these projects.

In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, longtime Bollywood star Ashutosh Rana announced his return to the upcoming YRF Spy Universe films. During his interview with the publication, the actor known for his role in Chhaava revealed that his character Colonel Sunil Luthra plays a crucial part in the universe. Consequently, fans can expect him in the upcoming film “War 2,” starring Hrithik Roshan, Kiara Advani, and N. T. Rama Rao Jr.

Rana also announced that he will reprise his role as Colonel Luthra in the groundbreaking first female-led film, Alpha. “Naturally, I’ll be a part of it,” said the seasoned actor, emphasizing the significance of Colonel Luthra within the series. In this production, Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, Bobby Deol, and Anil Kapoor are among the main stars.

For those unfamiliar, War 2 is the sixth movie in this shared universe and a sequel to the 2019 film titled War. It’s set to hit theaters on August 14, 2025, under the guidance of director Ayan Mukerji. In contrast, Alpha, as the seventh installment, marks the first female-led movie in this universe and is helmed by Shiv Rawail, with its premiere scheduled for December 25, 2025.

This film, masterfully directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan, also features Rashmika Mandanna, Akshaye Khanna, and other notable stars. Earlier this month, I had the pleasure of being part of Loveyapa, a delightful romantic comedy. In this film, directed by Advait Chandan, I shared screen space with the promising newcomers Khushi Kapoor and Junaid Khan, as well as Grusha Kapoor and Kiku Sharda. This project marks the big-screen debut for both Khushi and Junaid.
