The surprise appearance of Charlie Cox as Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home ignited enthusiasm for a possible return of his character. This sparked Disney and Marvel to consider the idea seriously, as they took notice of Cox’s performance as Peter Parker’s legal advisor. The announcement of a new series, Daredevil: Born Again, followed shortly after, and with Charlie Cox’s upcoming debut on Disney+, fans are excitedly anticipating if Daredevil might eventually join the Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies.
Although Charlie Cox’s Daredevil hasn’t shown up in an MCU film in his iconic costume yet, it appears he harbors high expectations for his upcoming role. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is gearing up for another thrilling two-part Avengers saga, with “Doomsday” and “Secret Wars” being the next battlegrounds for Earth’s strongest heroes. In a recent interview with GQ UK, Cox has expressed his desire to join the action. With such a significant change coming for both heroes and villains, it seems that anything could happen. The unexpected return of Robert Downey Jr as Doctor Doom instead of Iron Man serves as a testament to this.
For Cox, this presents not just a significant chance to advance his career, but also an opportunity where he feels his character should receive greater attention.
It’s been a dream of mine to appear in an Avengers movie or a Spider-Man film, or something similar. Here are two main reasons. Firstly, I’ve grown into quite the fan of these characters over the years, and secondly, it seems incredibly exciting for the character to receive such an upgrade, almost as if it were for my sake.
Marvel Is Giving Superheroes a Second Chance
Despite a recent dip in popularity for superhero movies, which some might attribute to Marvel and Disney’s fast pace of production, there are several classic heroes getting another shot at stardom. For instance, Daredevil is back in the limelight following his initial run on Netflix, hinting that the genre might be more vibrant than it appears. This revelation isn’t lost on Hugh Jackman, who saw a resurgence of interest in his Wolverine character after almost a decade away. Moreover, not only did Deadpool and Wolverine team up to create a blockbuster at the box office, but they also provided an opportunity for characters from previous movies that were once underappreciated or even criticized, to shine again on screen.
The movie, starring Deadpool and Wolverine, was filled with brief appearances from various franchises, including a nod to the old Fantastic Four film series, where Chris Evans played the Human Torch rather than Captain America. Moreover, within the Daredevil universe, Jennifer Garner reprised her role as Elektra for the first time in close to twenty years. Given that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is now deeply immersed in its Multiverse phase, it seems anything could happen if they decide to bring it to life. A clear demonstration of this is the movie “No Way Home,” which brought Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield back into their Spiderman suits alongside Tom Holland.
There’s been quite a buzz among fans about the possibility of Charlie Cox showing up in either “Doomsday” or “Secret Wars”. Social media is filled with fans expressing their hope that Daredevil will join forces with other heroes to battle villains like Doctor Doom, and any others who pose a threat to our world. One Twitter user even shared, “It would be fantastic to see Charlie in action alongside other heroes in a massive Avengers film, especially if the Russo Brothers are directing.
