Steven Spielberg’s Next Movie Shifts Release Date to June 2026 as Film From Daniels is Undated for Now

The upcoming film directed by Steven Spielberg is shifting its premiere from May 15, 2026, to June 12, 2026. This move aims to create more space between it and the Disney blockbusters “Avengers: Doomsday” (May 1, 2026) and “The Mandalorian and Grogu” (May 22, 2026), as announced by Universal and Amblin Entertainment on Tuesday.

The upcoming movie, currently unnamed, has been assigned the production date that was previously reserved for filmmakers Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert), creators of the Academy Award-winning indie phenomenon Everything Everywhere All at Once. Universal stated that this project is progressing as scheduled, and a new premiere date will be revealed soon.

As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that the upcoming project from the Daniels duo, titled “The Untitled Event Film,” marks their first venture following a long-term agreement with Universal Studios, signed in the summer of 2022. This collaboration came before they triumphed at the Oscars for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay, establishing them as Hollywood’s most sought-after directing team. While specifics about the project are still scarce, the studio’s description as an “event film” hints at a grand scale for this exciting new venture.

Similarly, Steven Spielberg is being secretive about the plot of his upcoming film. This unnamed production is characterized as a unique, large-scale project that Spielberg himself has conceived and will direct.

Notable actors such as Josh O’Connor, Emily Blunt, Colman Domingo, Colin Firth, and Eve Hewson have been confirmed for this project. Produced by Kristie Macosko Krieger under Amblin Entertainment, this production is rooted in a tale conceived by Spielberg himself. David Koepp, who has collaborated with Spielberg before on projects like “Jurassic Park” and “Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” is responsible for penning the script.

More to come.
