After a three-year break on TV that fueled numerous rumors and speculation, HBO has officially revealed the latest casting updates for Euphoria‘s third season. Despite facing potential cancellation due to various factors over the past few years, this controversial teen addiction series is now set to return in early 2026. As intriguing as the new cast members are, it’s equally noteworthy who among the actors and beloved characters won’t be part of Season 3 anymore.
In the third season of Euphoria, scheduled for release on HBO in 2026, Zendaya will reprise her role as Rue Bennett, a troubled teenager. Joining her will be a mix of new and familiar faces, including Super Bowl champions, popular Spanish pop stars, winners of the NAACP Image Award, and others. With ample opportunity to catch up on the first two seasons, here are the new and returning cast members for Euphoria Season 3.
‘Euphoria’s Premise & Returning Characters
As a dedicated movie enthusiast, I can’t help but share my excitement for the upcoming season 3 of Euphoria. Joining the phenomenal Zendaya as Rue will be familiar faces such as Maude Apatow reprising her role as Rue’s closest friend Lexi Howard, Hunter Schaffer as the complex love interest Jules Vaughn, Jacob Elordi portraying the tormented football star Nate Jacobs, Sydney Sweeney embodying Cassie Howard, Lexi’s older sister, Alexa Demie playing Maddy Perez, Cassie’s popular best friend and cheerleader, and Dominic Fike taking on the role of Elliot, a character who may complicate Rue and Jules’ relationship.
Characters portrayed by Chloe Cherry (Faye) and Martha Kelly (Laurie), who made appearances in previous seasons, are likely to reprise their roles for Season 3 as regular cast members. As for the adult characters returning to Euphoria’s upcoming season, Eric Dane (known from Grey’s Anatomy and The Last Ship) will continue his role as Cal Jacobs, a deceptive father of one of the main characters, and Colman Domingo (familiar with Sing Sing and Fear the Walking Dead) will return as Ali Muhammad, a recovering drug addict who develops a friendship with Rue.
New Characters Added to Euphoria Season 3
Season 3 of the hit series “Euphoria” will leap forward by four years, resuming after the main characters have graduated from high school. What makes this season even more intriguing isn’t just the return of familiar “Euphoria” characters, but also the new additions to the cast. According to Deadline, the Spanish pop flamenco sensation Rosalía is set to make her acting debut in an undisclosed role. Additionally, former NFL star and Super Bowl champion Marshawn Lynch (“Westworld,” “Bottoms”), and NCAAP Image Award winner Kadeem Hardison (“A Different World,” “White Men Can’t Jump”) have also been cast for Season 3.
Actress Sharon Stone, who’s known for her roles in “Casino” and “Basic Instinct,” is rumored to be considering a role on the upcoming third season of “Euphoria.” The specifics about the new characters are still under wraps. Alongside Stone, other potential guest stars include Darrell Britt-Gibson (“Barry,” “We Own This City”), Priscilla Delgado (“A League of Their Own,” “Just Before Christ”), James Landry Hebert (“1883,” “Horizon”), and Anna Van Patte (“Gossip Girl,” “Master”).
In the upcoming third season of “Euphoria,” we have some fresh faces joining the cast: Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, known from “His Dark Materials” and “The Fix,” as well as Toby Wallace, recognized for his work in “Babyteeth” and “The Bikeriders.” Though specifics are still vague, it’s clear that these new characters will intersect with Rue and her companions, who are now four years beyond high school, navigating adulthood. Regrettably, some cherished characters from “Euphoria” may not reappear in Season 3.
Non-Returning Characters in Euphoria Season 3
In the mix of fresh faces and returning cast members in Season 3 of Euphoria, some beloved characters are noticeably absent. For example, Storm Reid (known from The Suicide Squad and The Nun II) will not be reprising her role as Rue’s traumatized sister, Georgia Bennett. Similarly, Nika King (noted for her work in Greenleaf and Funny Married Stuff) will not return to portray Leslie Bennett, Rue and Gia’s mother. With Rue now losing both her mother and sister, it seems that her situation may become even more challenging before any hope of improvement arises.
In Season 3 of “Euphoria”, some characters who won’t be returning are Algee Smith, known for movies like “The Hate U Give” and “Judas and the Black Messiah”, who played Cassie’s former college boyfriend Chris McKay, and Barbie Ferreira, famous for “Nope” and “House of Spoils”, who portrayed Rue’s friend Kat Hernandez. Ferreira publicly expressed differing opinions about showrunner Sam Levinson’s ideas for the series, which makes her departure from the show less unexpected.
