A$AP Rocky Found Not Guilty in LA Assault Trial

The Grammy-nominated hip-hop artist A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, was recently acquitted for not shooting his ex-friend on a Hollywood street in 2021. As he stepped out of the courtroom, he expressed his gratitude to the jurors, saying, “I owe you all a debt of gratitude for saving my life and making the right choice.” A$AP Rocky escaped decades behind bars as he was found innocent of two felony charges involving the use of a semi-automatic firearm.

36-year-old artist and fashion tycoon, who is also Rihanna’s partner, rushed straight into the gallery for a warm embrace with Rihanna, family, and friends. If not found innocent in court, Rocky faced up to 24 years in prison. Just before the trial began, Rocky rejected the prosecution’s deal offering six months behind bars, probation, and additional conditions if he admitted guilt on one charge. From the start, Rocky maintained his innocence, placing his faith in the jury’s verdict.

As I stand here, I’m buzzing with excitement about my upcoming gigs. In March, I’ll be headlining Rolling Loud in LA, and come May, I’ll be co-chairing the Met Gala alongside some big names. Plus, I’ve got a movie coming up with Denzel Washington, directed by Spike Lee.

The past few weeks have been tough though, as I faced a legal battle with an old friend, Relli, from our ASAP Mob days. Our friendship within the collective had turned sour over time. On November 6th, 2021, we met to discuss our differences, but things didn’t go as planned. We got into a heated argument, and a scuffle ensued. I drew a gun from my waistband, but according to Relli, I fired it at him. My defense, however, is that the gun was a prop with blanks, something I’ve been carrying for months. Relli claims he knew it was fake.
