Despite initial skepticism that Days Gone Remastered might be merely a money-grabbing move, it seems to have attracted robust digital pre-orders. This strong sales performance likely explains why Sony persists in remastering PlayStation 4 titles. So, for those curious about the frequent re-releases of relatively new games, this could be the reason behind it.
Kevin McAllister, who serves as Community Manager for Sony’s zombie shooter, announced on X that the remastered version has already secured a spot among the top 10 pre-orders in the PlayStation Store. It seems that money truly does speak loudly, and nothing is more convincing to Sony than customers purchasing a game before it’s even released. Interestingly, they could have opted for the original PS4 version, but instead, they decided to pre-order the remastered edition.
Previously, I’ve expressed my skepticism about the necessity of Days Gone Remastered. Despite this, it appears that gamers may find satisfaction in it. Given they’re the ones investing their valuable resources into a remaster of Sony’s less memorable open-world zombie game. On a positive note, if anything beneficial emerges from this situation, Bend Studio will receive additional funds for their future project, which can only be seen as a good thing overall.
PlayStation enthusiasts are no strangers to spending more for remastered versions of games that initially lacked detailed visual elements like body hair. Recent examples include Horizon Zero Dawn: Remastered and The Last of Us Part 2: Remastered, which were unveiled in the last few years. In fact, it could be said that Sony hinted at this trend when they launched the console with Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered as part of the Miles Morales Ultimate Edition.
Ultimately, the demand for Days Gone Remastered seems to be coming from fans themselves, which is unfortunate because this writer acknowledges that Days Gone, while not perfect, is a solid open-world game mechanically speaking. While it’s not an awful game overall, fans who look forward to the remaster can expect some enhancements for a better gaming experience.
For now, that’s everything we know about Days Gone Remastered and its strong pre-orders.
