Daniel Craig Drops Out of DC Studios War Movie ‘Sgt. Rock’

Daniel Craig’s DC Comics debut will have to wait.

The actor is no longer involved in the upcoming DC Studios movie, “Sgt. Rock”, which would have brought him back together with director Luca Guadagnino. Originally, this film was scheduled to have a script written by Justin Kuritzkes, who also wrote Guadagnino’s “Challengers” and “Queer”.

Originating from the minds of Robert Kanigher and Joe Kubert, Sgt. Rock is a tenacious World War II soldier who made his debut in comic books back in 1959. He serves as the hardened commander of Easy Company, with their adventures captivating readers for many years, making it one of DC Comics’ longest-lasting series.

Over the years, attempts have been made to adapt Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis for the big screen, yet these efforts have not succeeded so far.

It’s uncertain why Craig decided to leave. Some people speculate that scheduling conflicts with his wife, actress Rachel Weisz, may have been a factor. Others suggest that he became dissatisfied with the role after the movie “Queer” underperformed not just financially but also in the awards season competition.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m excitedly looking forward to the possibility of some exciting news dropping this summer! DC seems to be gearing up for filming at their UK studio, and they’re already on the hunt for top-notch talent. Rumors are swirling that Jeremy Allen White could potentially join the cast, but it’s all speculation for now. Fingers crossed!

DC had no comment.
