Over the past eight years, I’ve become an integral part of Saturday Night Live, gracing its screens as the youngest cast member at just 20 years old. My “Weekend Update” segments and other sketches made me a fan favorite. Yet, during the show’s 50th anniversary celebration, it was my noticeably reduced collection of tattoos that had viewers buzzing – not for my comedic prowess this time around.
As a passionate cinephile, I’m excited to share that Davidson, the talented actor currently lending his voice to the blockbuster animated film “Dog Man,” is known for sporting an impressive collection of around 200 tattoos on his body. Each of these designs holds a special meaning related to his life or career. However, during his appearance on SNL50, some fans may have noticed that he seems less heavily inked compared to before.
In a later episode of “The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon”, the comedian discussed the fate of his famous collection of memories and hinted at having them removed from his body in a daring and uncomfortable procedure, aiming to mature and grow as an individual. When asked if he intended to keep any of his tattoos, Davidson replied:
“Maybe like two or three. But I am trying to clean slate it. Trying to be an adult.”
In an open discussion, Davidson shared the reason behind his numerous tattoos; it all stemmed from a period in his life when he was deeply melancholic and succumbing to the tattoo trend among his peers. Now, he spoke about the painful process he’s going through to remove those tattoos, symbolizing his desire to leave that part of his past behind.
[I had] around 200 tattoos, yes. It was a difficult phase for me. An unusual period, I guess everyone was getting inked about five years ago. Post Malone was singing ‘Always Tired’, and I could relate. I too was tired, exhausted even. I’ve been trying to remove them. They are almost gone now. The process is painful. It involves burning off a layer of your skin, followed by six to eight weeks of healing, and avoiding sunlight during this period. Plus, you have to repeat the process about 12 times. So, before you decide on that ‘Game of Thrones’ tattoo, consider what I just said.
Pete Davidson Is Looking for a Fresh Start
In a similar vein to other stars known as much for their headlines in gossip magazines as their acting roles, Davidson seems to be using tattoo removal as a means to move forward and concentrate on bigger opportunities. With reportedly $200k spent on removing his tattoos, it appears he’s determined to distance himself from the past few years, suggesting a commitment to leaving behind his old self for good.
As a fan, I must admit that Pete Davidson’s reunion with Kim Kardashian at SNL50 was quite the spectacle, stealing the spotlight. However, an unexpected friendship that has caught my attention is his budding relationship with Hollywood legend Kevin Costner. Recently, they were spotted chatting at Chris Rock’s 60th birthday bash, not long after their Super Bowl encounter. Mingling with veterans like Costner could potentially broaden Davidson’s horizons in Hollywood, and as he navigates this new “adult” phase of his life, having high-profile stars like Costner on his side could undeniably be beneficial.
