Recently released movie Mrs., featuring Sanya Malhotra, has been generating a lot of discussion since its debut on ZEE5. Veteran actor Kanwaljit Singh, who portrays Richa’s father-in-law in the film, expressed his emotional response upon viewing the completed version. Kanwaljit confessed that he was profoundly troubled by how his character behaved towards Richa in the movie and promptly apologized to her after watching it.
In an exclusive chat with Hindi Rush, Kanwaljit Singh disclosed that his on-screen persona symbolizes the unjust control over women that is prevalent in many households, as portrayed in the movie. After viewing the film, Kanwaljit admitted he felt deeply disturbed by his character’s actions and quickly sought out Sanya to offer an apology. “I felt extremely angry with myself, and I didn’t understand why; spontaneously, I told Sanya, ‘I am sorry,'” Kanwaljit reminisced.
He went on to clarify that Sanya Malhotra appeared surprised and inquired about his apology. Kanwaljit then said, “Not at all, my friend, I’ve really messed up with you.” He confessed that he had underestimated the harshness and unfairness of his character’s actions, and witnessing Sanya’s portrayal of Richa’s suffering left him feeling extremely sorry.
