Following the release of Freedom at Midnight’s first season on Sony LIV in November 2024, creators have confirmed that a second season is underway. As fans eagerly await more details about the storyline, writer Abhinandan Gupta has offered some behind-the-scenes information. In an interview with OTTplay, he revealed that they are approaching Season 2 with the same commitment to fairness, neutrality, understanding, and kindness that characterized Season 1.
Gupta shared, “The new season focuses on events unfolding outside following the decisions made indoors previously.” Expanding on this, he clarified that while Season 1 explores the political maneuverings leading up to India’s partition, Season 2 will explore the repercussions of that choice. He summarized, “These two seasons are thematically linked, each covering a significant part of an intriguing story within a defined timeframe.
During that very interview, I couldn’t help but sing praises for Ranveer Singh, expressing how effortless it was to work alongside him on Bajirao Mastani, Kill Dill, and Padmaavat. Even after spending a considerable amount of time with him, I find myself yearning for another chance to work with this extraordinary talent from Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. I call him a phenomenal actor, every bit as dynamic as the characters he plays on screen.
Apart from this, Abhinandan Gupta expressed appreciation for Deepika Padukone, noting that when she’s in the picture, viewers are drawn to her and can hardly focus elsewhere due to her captivating presence. Moreover, he voiced his admiration towards Vicky Kaushal, who is garnering acclaim for his acting skills in Chhaava. He described Vicky as a mesmerizing actor to watch, with an impressive sense of humor and versatility. Furthermore, he mentioned that Ranbir Kapoor is someone he dreams of collaborating with.
