The Last of Us Season 2: Where’ Ellie’s Iconic Tattoo?

A great many enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the comeback of “The Last of Us” this coming April, with Max gradually unveiling promotional materials that highlight characters like Ellie, Joel, and the fresh face, Abby.

Fresh off the press, there are newly released posters featuring the trio, and eagle-eyed fans have pointed out an apparent omission regarding Ellie’s appearance.

Where’s Ellie’s Tattoo?

According to a recent tweet from @AbbyStanAccount, it appears that Ellie’s tattoo is absent in the newly released posters for the upcoming second season of “The Last of Us.

In the narrative, Ellie’s tattoo serves a crucial role as it conceals an injury from an infected bite on her right arm. Although the wound is now healed, it remains noticeable, leading Ellie to frequently clarify to others about her immunity, if they are willing to accept it.

It might have been wiser to conceal it, making it appear as though no one would give it a second glance. If someone took a closer look, she could easily explain it away as an unsightly wound.

Returning to the poster, has Ellie’s tattoo been removed from the series?

From the appearance of the pictures, it seems that Ellie’s tattoo is still present; however, it appears to be significantly smaller compared to the one depicted in the game.

This time, Ellie’s tattoo is more compact and doesn’t cover her entire forearm, making it invisible in the poster. However, it continues to fulfill its primary purpose: concealing Ellie’s bite scar.

When Does the Show Take Liberties from the Game?

Despite the show receiving praise for sticking to the original game’s main ideas, some alterations were introduced specifically to strengthen the storyline for television purposes.

In the series, there are fewer instances of interaction with infected individuals, but changes have been made to certain characters to enhance the show’s dramatic tension. For instance, Henry’s younger brother Sam is portrayed as deaf in the show to further emphasize their reliance on each other during the apocalypse. Additionally, Melanie Lynskey’s character brings an element of urgency to Sam and Henry’s escape journey.

In a surprising twist, Bill’s narrative in the game, The Last of Us, deviated significantly from its original version, taking fans by surprise. Instead of portraying Bill as the bitter old man he was in the game, the series creatively transformed his and Frank’s story into a heartwarming romance set amidst an apocalyptic backdrop. Although Bill’s journey has concluded, his role proved essential for Ellie and Joel’s narrative progression in the series.

What Can Change in Season 2?

For the second season of “The Last of Us“, it’s uncertain what changes might occur, but some enthusiasts speculate that there could be rearrangements in the narrative structure. At least, the series may delve deeper into the story of WLF leader Isaac. Perhaps they’ll also explore more about Abby’s group, including characters like Owen and Mel.

Fans will just have to wait and see. The Last of Us Season 2 premieres on Max this April.
