Sterling K. Brown’s Thriller ‘Paradise’ Renewed for Season 2

We’re definitely heading back to a place akin to Paradise. The highly acclaimed Hulu series, which has just begun its first season, has been such a massive success for the streaming platform that they’ve already greenlit it for another season. The Dan Fogelman-created series – his debut after wrapping up his critically acclaimed family drama “This Is Us” – brings the renowned showrunner together once more with his “This is Us” star, Sterling K. Brown.

In the show titled “Paradise,” Xavier Collins, a Secret Service agent, experiences life-altering events as President Cal Bradford (James Marsden) mysteriously perishes. This series premiered in January, releasing its initial three episodes, followed by new episodes each week. The cast includes Julianne Nicholson, Sarah Shahi, Nicole Brydon Bloom, Aliyah Mastin, and Percy Daggs IV, among others.

If you’re eager to explore the world of Paradise, but don’t have Hulu, don’t worry! The Season 1 finale, which was released on Hulu on March 4, will be aired on ABC starting from April 7, at 10pm ET/PT. So, you can still catch up with the series without needing a streaming service.

Why Is ‘Paradise’ So Popular And What Makes The Show So Mysterious?

If you believe that “Paradise” is just another ordinary political thriller, you might want to reconsider. In the very first episode, something significant is disclosed – a massive spoiler, so if you haven’t watched the show yet and plan to, please stop reading now! By the end of the first episode, it’s exposed that the world we see in the present day isn’t as it seems; instead, it takes place within a mountain bunker. It appears that the rest of the world is experiencing or has already gone through an extinction-level event, and those inside the bunker are the few who have survived it.

Or have they?

The first episode of this series hinted at a surprising plot twist, which might have been predicted by some viewers. However, it’s not the turn of events that one would anticipate from the creator behind a heartwarming family story that has gained much acclaim in recent television history. As TheWrap recently learned from the showrunner himself, this unexpected twist is directly related to an issue close to his heart: climate change. It’s still unclear how well the dystopian aspect of the plot will intertwine with the murder mystery and transform it into a larger government conspiracy. Yet, the showrunner aims to avoid making the message too preachy.

This crisis, which has a precedent in numerous past projects involving government secrets and ominous rhetoric, may not be the most imminent threat to the world, but it is one we should keep aware of. It’s important to consider this scenario as part of the broader discussion about potential global catastrophes.

Of course, there’s great anticipation as we watch this tranquil-appearing society, supposedly home to some of the most influential people globally, navigate and conquer the challenges that have arisen following the president’s assassination. Here’s to Sterling K. Brown making a difference (and perhaps gaining insight into the larger world)! We’re cheering him on either way.
